Samsung is bent on keeping its “premium feel” line – also known as the Galaxy A Series – alive with this latest device, the Samsung Galaxy A8, which apart from the metallic design that is the signature of this series, aims to be one of, if not THE slimmest Samsung smartphone to date. We are treated here to some hands-on images that show us this gorgeous device that will sit squarely in the upper mid-range market, in pricing if not totally in specs.

The Samsung Galaxy A8 has a full-metal build, which is not surprising. It is very slim indeed, at 5.94mm. It sports a 5.7-inch full HD (1080p) Super AMOLED display powered by a newish octa-core 1.5Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. That will be ably supported by 2GB RAM, 16Gb of internal storage and microSD expansion capability. And did we tell you, yes, the “home” button has a fingerprint scanner incorporated in it.

The Galaxy A8 will feature a 16MP/5MP camera combo, 4G connectivity, a non-removable 3,050mAh battery – all running under Samsung’s TouchWiz UI built over Android 5.1.1. Compared to its predecessor the Galaxy A7, the Galaxy A8 shows a little more roundness along the edges to its design, and smaller bezels.

According to sources, Samsung is getting ready to launch the new device in china on July 17. The price point is rumored to be at around USD$490, which is pretty expensive for the midrange specs you are getting. But this series is not all about the specs, it is about the premium feel of the metal design. When you buy this beauty and hold it in your hands, you will know what you are paying for.
