If you live in the United Kingdom and your carrier of choice is EE, then you might be interested to know that they’re introducing a new own-brand tablet called Jay. And while it may not be able to compete with other high-end tablets in the market, it does have decent specs that you can consider it to be either a secondary device or a home tablet for the family. You can pay-as-you-go for the tablet or add it to your current plan or sign up for a contract with the carrier.

Jay has a 7.85-inch display with a 1024×768 pixel resolution, which should be decent enough to watch videos and display high-quality images. It is powered by a quad-core 1.06GHz 64-bit Media Tek processor and has 1GB RAM, so don’t expect to use it for high-quality games. It has 16GB internal storage that can be expanded to 32GB through a microSD card. Camera-wise, just like with most tablets in the market, don’t expect much from a 5MP main and 2MP front-facing camera.

The tablet has a 3600mAh battery which should last you 7 hours of full usage. Unfortunately, it only comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and no information if it can be upgraded to Marshmallow. It is of course powered by EE’s self-described “superfast” 4G network. It only weighs 350 grams so it won’t be such a burden to carry it around.

The Jay has been available since May 11 and you can buy it on pay-as-you-go for £119.99. If you’re a new subscriber, you can have it for £16 per month with a £30 upfront payment. For current customers, you will be able to get a 10% discount on the monthly cost and no upfront fee.
