Twitter for Android just received a pretty sizable update in the Google Play Store. The update actually brings tons of new features and this in a lot more than just a small bug fix update. With an improved UI, faster performance, new ways to discover, push notifications for retweets and more. Check out the screenshots and full change-log below for all the details.

The update just went live in the Google Play Store and you can get it by clicking here. The user interface has been slightly changed around and has an improved design, and the discover tab has seen some major changes. The discover tab now shows who your connections follow, updates to their lists, and which Tweets they retweet and favorite. So you’ll be able to be better connected. Another feature I’m happy to see is username auto-complete while tweeting, and spelling suggestions and related search results when you search on Twitter.

That isn’t all either. As you can see from my above screenshot Twitter has improved their push notifications by a wide margin. Now you can get instant push notifications when a tweet is RT’d, favorited and even when you get new followers. If I could just get a notification for followers and not an email that would be excellent. Last but not least they’ve added 8 new languages which are: Traditional Chinese, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Polish, Hungarian, Thai.

The update is available now and brings a whole new level of discovery, tweeting, and notifications to Twitter for Android. Hit the Twitter Blog for additional details.

  1. BUT, what they failed to mention is that instead of fixing the contact sync issue that we’ve been having since Januaury, they just removed it all together!

What options do we have now for syncing contacts? 🙁
