While listening to terrestrial radio may already be a thing of the past (or a hipster retro hobby), radio itself has reinvented itself into podcasts, video podcasts that is still easily consumable by customers and subscribers. One such app that gives you access to these is Tunein radio and the latest update to it brings a sort of new design, as well as Chromecast support.

The ability to stream your favorite video podcasts onto a larger TV screen through a dongle is now available on Tunein as Chromecast support finally arrives on the app. This has been a much-requested functionality as people are sometimes not just content with listening and watching through their mobile devices anything from sports to entertainment to news podcasts that they listen to. Other improvements in this version includes lock screen enhancements, as well as alarm improvements. Of course the usual bug fixes are also present in the update.

In terms of design, just like all other apps that want to look good on the Android 5.0 Lollipop, it receives a Material Design update. However, the changes are not actually an overhaul, but rather small design tweaks that actually bring better functionality to the app. The menu button now looks like a back arrow, kind of like what you see on the Google Play Store. Rounded off corners, black navigation bar, tinted status bar are just among the minor design changes you can see.

Tunein Radio has two kinds of apps, a free version and a pro version. All the changes we discussed of course comes from the paid version. If you haven’t yet downloaded the app, you can get it from the Google Play Store for $9.99.
