Yep, you heard us right. It’s a meme waiting to happen, but we’ll set that aside for a moment. What’s important is that you can now get the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet, the NVIDIA wireless game controller, and a bundle of games all for USD$399.

First you get a great gaming tablet, because that’s what the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet is – we’ve said it before, we’ll say it again, this is probably the best gaming tablet you can get out in the market today. Granted that you’ll have to pay premium for it, but that’s what it costs to have the best specs. It’s primed with the Tegra K1 processor, still one of the baddest mobile procs out there today.

Then you get the NVIDIA wireless mobile controller for all your gaming needs. And then NVIDIA put a bundle within the bundle – buyers of this holiday treat will get three classic Valve games: Portal, Half-Life 2, and Half-Life 2: Episode One, which we mentioned was optimized specifically for the SHIELD Tablet.

So, are you planning to splurge on something nice for yourself this holiday season? NVIDIA’s Holiday Bundle makes it difficult for it not to be part of your options for gaming.

    • LTE version usually sell a lot less, but I doubt that’s. Facto at all.
Thevprifiy margin is much higher on LTE model. Even with the bundle, they are likely still making a few more bucks than if they sell a WiFi only version. Bundling WiFi version may just screw the already thin profit margin.

  1. This is a bundle yes, but there’s no price reduction or incentive to buy it. The tablet is 300$, the controller is 70$ and you can get that game bundle with 5 games off steam for 21$. I love this tablet but this bundle is more expensive than buying it seperately.

      • You’re not mistaken. It is the 32GB LTE model. They had the same deal for black Friday and I’m using mine to write this reply. So getting an LTE tablet, a sweet wifi direct controller (that has a built in touchpad, volume controls and headset jack) and the game bundle for only 399 is an awesome deal! Replaying HL2 on this thing is awesome.

  2. Instead of bundling those three games, it would have made more sense for them to throw in the kickstand too. Nvidia needs to learn the same leason that the console manufacturers did, and thats the razor and blade strategy. Sell the Hardware at a loss and make your profits on the software.

    • Look at the ouya, with android you make money on the hardware unless you are a service provider.
And the free controller is way more important then a free kickstand

      • “And the free controller is way more important then a free kickstand”……Agreed but I still feel it would have been better to bundle both. Once you own a Shield, it doesn’t look like there’s much to play besides Half-Life and Portal. So they might as well make there money there.

      • Well, the Nvidia Grid game streaming service is very solid. You can play top notch games streamed from them to your Shield….and let me tell you, it holds up VERY WELL under pressure. Occasional lag aside, video game streaming is the way of the future!

      • But that’s the problem with the Shield ecosystem, the best games aren’t run natively, there run thru Streaming! Streaming wouldn’t be a problem in console mode, but it is an issue if your gaming on the go. The problem at the end of the day for the Shield brand, is that it has more in common with the 3DS/Vita than the XboxOne/PS4.
