NBC dumps Silverlight: YouTube to power Olympics streaming video

Can I just say: finally. Finally. This isn't stricly an Android story, but NBC's decision to dump Microsoft's proprietary steaming technology, Silverlight, is a win for every single Android user who wants to watch the Olympics. Why? Because they're switching to YouTube, Google's very own video playground that's deeply integrated into (almost) every Android phone and tablet. In addition to making Android sports fans the world over happy, it's going to save millions of Internet citizens the hassle of installing the Silverlight plugin... which they haven't needed since two years ago, when the last Olympics made use of it.

Google TV big announcements coming today, could just be YouTube update

Over the weekend Google made some noise about an upcoming announcement for Google TV. Over on their official Facebook page they mentioned some "big announcements" coming today. Google told us to get ready for Monday so that is exactly what we've done. We'll be sure to update as soon as anything "big" drops, but we are now seeing an update on the Google TV Blog from late last night simply outlining a new YouTube app.

President Obama to appear on Google+ for post State of the Union Interview

Who wants to see President Obama live on a Google+ hangout? If you do then next week you are in luck because Obama will be doing exactly that. After trying to be more "social" the White House made a Google+ account last week. I was confused when I saw it but now it appears that the White House will be holding a post State of the Union interview with the President live with a Google+ Hangout.

Galaxy Nexus Ninja Unboxing turns into 8-bit video game

I have one word for this and that is: Awesome! If you remember, Google released similar videos for both the Google Nexus One and the Samsung Nexus S (both linked to below) and my personal favorite was the Nexus S. This new Ninja Unboxing part 3 might just take the cake -- until part 4 of course. In the past they used stop motion animation for these awesome videos but this brings things to an entirely new level. Play the Galaxy Nexus video game today!

Transformer Prime 1080p camera gets a look at Segways and fashion models

Asus' Eee Pad Transformer Prime is definitely at the top of the heap as far as Android tablets go right now, and not just because of its quad-core Tegra 3 processor. The 8MP 1080p camera is will also meet or beat just about any tablet out there, and the manufacturer aims to prove it with their latest YouTube video. Compare this with the impressive still images already released. They chose a fashion show in Sweden as their venue for the demonstration - I can't imagine why.

As Galaxy Nexus launches in UK, Verizon version appears in Google video

Well, the day has finally arrived, for UK citizens, at least. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is available for purchase unlocked and sin contract in the British Isles, all you need is a spare £549.99. There's still no word out of Verizon, supposedly the exclusive US launch partner for the Galaxy Nexus, but if you're desperate for a little more confirmation, mozy on over to the official Google Nexus YouTube channel. Demonstration videos for the new Ice Cream Sandwich features are all done with a Verizon-branded LTE version of the Nexus. At least Google can get their hands on one, right?

YouTube updated to v2.3.4 with Watch later queue and +1 button

Google is running wild this morning and this is a friendly reminder to check YouTube on the Android Market as it was just updated to version 2.3.4 and along with it came a few neat little changes. Nothing extremely huge here but the more the better right. Google has added the +1 button for their ever growing Google+ social network as well as a few other changes.
