Motorola XOOM WiFi Android 4.0.4 update finally rolling out

Good news for those that still own the Motorola XOOM WiFi tablet. After hearing last week from Motorola that an update was on the way, then Google announcing Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich was being pushed to multiple devices, we can now report it is available for the XOOM and rolling out as we speak.

Motorola's not so popular Motorola Xoom tablet received Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich back in January so we can rule that out for this impending update. Like usual, Motorola is sending out emails for their soak test update that is coming soon for the Xoom. We don't have any details yet but its possible the Xoom will receive Android 4.0.5 in the coming weeks.

Refurbished XOOM units from Woot contain old user data

Woot had a Motorola XOOM sale at the tail end of 2011, and as it turns out now, there were a batch of these units that still contained their original users data upon them. For those that give up their units to the refurbishing points across the USA often do not know that they have to reset their devices before they hand them over, believe it or not. For a period between March and October of 2011, refurb groups across the USA did not check the devices correctly.

Motorola themselves have just confirmed on Twitter what we all were expecting and have previously reported. The WiFi Motorola XOOM tablet is finally set to get the latest and greatest from Google -- and that is Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich. While the Verizon 3G/4G enabled version will have to wait all of you with a WiFi model can get the update right now.

Motorola appears to be getting ready to start another update rollout for the original WiFi Motorola XOOM tablet. As usual they are calling this a "project" and are currently looking for a few testers. A few tips and our source mention this could in fact be Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich although it's too early to tell, but they give a few hints.

Verizon confirms “XyBoard” branding for new Motorola XOOMs

We though "XOOM 2" was a pretty good name for a the tablet that replaces the original Honeycomb device, but apparently Verizon disagrees. The rumored "XyBoard" name for the Motorola XOOM 2 and its smaller Media Edition seems to be the final name, according to Cnet. Verizon confirmed that two tablets with Droid XyBoard branding will launch before the end of the year, both with LTE radios inside.

Motorola Xoom update rolling out now

The original Honeycomb tablet the Motorola Xoom isn't going anywhere just yet. It was updated with 4G LTE, It'll see Ice Cream Sandwich eventually and today Verizon is supplying users with another update. Don't run home on your lunch break or anything because this is not some super secret Android 4.0 update, instead we have a measly 8.9 MB teeny tiny software change. At least it's seeing steady updates though right?

Motorola Xoom update “Project” coming, looking for testers

Motorola's feedback network has another software update "project" coming soon and this one is for the Motorola Xoom tablet. They were previously calling these early pre-release updates soak tests but it appears calling them a "project" now makes more sense. Could this be a small software bugfix? Or maybe even Android 4.0 ICS? Hopefully we'll know soon.

Recently the Motorola XOOM has been the victim of some low prices like $339 at Amazon, or $349 from Woot but those were all refurbished models making this deal today one of the best we've seen yet. It's one day only though so you might want to hurry.

Motorola Xoom 2 roaming around the FCC

It appears the Motorola Xoom 2 might have been hanging out at the FCC this weekend. What seems to be a mystery tablet from Motorola was spotted sporting specs similar to recently leaked Xoom 2 devices, but we still aren't sure what we are seeing and have been digging around trying to figure out more on this mystery device.
