NOOK Color gets an Ice Cream Sandwich CM9 ROM

As to be expected we are seeing loads and loads of CM9 or Ice Cream Sandwich ROM's for all types of Android devices. The popular NOOK Color that was highly hackable and enjoyed Honeycomb before many others is taking the same route with Ice Cream Sandwich. Thanks to a few hard working developers over at XDA the NOOK Color is starting to see new life and 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is coming along quite nicely.

HTC Sensation Android 4.0 ROM Leaks, teases Sense UI on ICS

While developers have been going crazy porting and working on ROM's for all devices to get a taste of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich today we have something even better. This appears to be a full Android 4.0 ROM for the Sensation XE that was leaked to the public. Developers have already ported this to the regular HTC Sensation and it seems to be working great. This also gives us our first glace at what to expect with HTC's Sense UI on Ice Cream Sandwich -- more of the same sadly.

NOOK Tablet update killed root and side-loading apps — here’s a fix

One of the biggest reasons many Android fans bought the NOOK Tablet aside from the great hardware and eReader capabilities is the fact that we can side-load apps, root, and install 3rd party ROM's -- not to mention eventually stable Ice Cream Sandwich builds. An update that started rolling out yesterday has killed root access, and we no longer have the easy option to side-load Android apps without some serious modification and hacking. Don't worry our fellow readers, we have a fix.

HTC Flyer Honeycomb Screenshots and Instructions Appear

In case you were all busy preparing for this holiday weekend, Friday we brought news regarding Honeycomb on the HTC Flyer. What happened is a RUU build of Honeycomb 3.2 with Sense UI for tablets was leaked for the HTC Flyer, a device we still weren't sure would even get the update to Honeycomb in the first place. MoDaCo's Paul O'Brien and many others have been working hard and things are developing already.

HTC Sensation ROM provides 1.56GHz Overclock

It appears that the developer known as mike1986 has created a lovely new ROM for the HTC Sensation specifically which bumps the device's processor speed up to 1.56 GHz. While this device's original dual-core processor speed was clocked at 1.2GHz, this ROM provides the device with the original stock speed of its MSN8660 chipset, that being 1.51GHz by default, here controlled automatically by built-in O/C Daemon. In addition to this speed boost, you'll find that there's only speed boosts and power optimizations across the board: that means your device will look and feel exactly the same, it'll just be BETTER!

Motorola Droid 3 Receives Root Access [Updated with 1-click]

Thanks to XDA Forums member djrbliss, who hasn't ever actually touched the Droid 3, found a nice and simple exploit that has allowed the Droid 3 to be successfully rooted. He has yet to unveil the full exploit used but he was nice enough to give everyone some instructions to do this on their own. No one click root here, this requires some ADB shell skills so make sure you know what you're getting into.

Verizon LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is Rooted and Hacked to Run Netflix

This isn't much of a surprise, since we've already seen root for the Google IO and retail WiFi versions of the Galaxy Tab 10.1, but happy news none-the-less. Verizon's new LTE-toting version of the world's slimmest Android tablet is officially rooted thanks to the fellows at XDA. With root comes all your favorite hacks and mods, including the ability to stream your Netflix movies, over that screaming fast LTE.
