Sony SmartBand and Lifelog Camera: hands-on from MWC 2014

We saw a preview of the Sony wearables back in January, during CES. And nicely, Sony was prepared to offer a bit more this time around. Coming out of MWC 2014, there was some hands-on time with the Sony SmartBand SWR10. This is a Bluetooth dongle at the moment, and will be paired with the Smart Lifelog Camera companion setup.

Omate TrueSmart Elegance and Sparkle editions unveiled: hands-on

Omate is here at Mobile World Congress showing a new model, as well as some new colors. This latest is the TrueSmart Elegance edition and it was introduced to address on issue in particular -- the weight of the watch. We mentioned in our initial hands-on how the TrueSmart initially felt heavy, and while we were able to get used to it, those going with the Elegance model shouldn't have that to worry about at all.

Omate TrueSmart smartwatch hands-on and first impressions

We've been watching the Omate TrueSmart rather closely since the Kickstarter launch, and while we managed to see the watch back in January during CES, we got to spend quite a bit more time with it here at Mobile World Congress. In fact, we not only spent some time checking it out, but we walked away with a unit for further review.

Google may be offering a new OS for wearables this Spring

While many of us want a true Android smartwatch, perhaps that’s reaching a bit too far. A new report suggests Google is going to release their own wearable OS this Spring, likely at I/O. Like Android, the new OS will be open source, and available for all OEMs to use.

Samsung Gear Fit hands-on

Samsung already tipped its hand on the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches, but there's a third wearable for MWC 2014, the Samsung Gear Fit. The first of Samsung's smart wrist-wear to include a curved AMOLED display, the Gear Fit's touchscreen comes in at 1.84-inches and an unusual, scrolling-ticker-like resolution of 432 x 128.

SCOTTEVEST 2014 range: first-impressions at MWC 2014

We're here in Barcelona for Mobile World Congress, and as often happens at these types of events -- that involves lots of running around, and also carrying lots of gear. We are all still sporting backpacks, however thanks to the SCOTTEVEST gear we are wearing, those backpacks are a bit easier to manage.

Huawei smartwatch spotted en route to MWC 2014

Rumors had been suggesting Huawei was planning to unveil a smartwatch during Mobile World Congress, and while we have yet to see the announcement, we have gotten a brief look at the watch. En route to Spain, Android Community spotted the watch on an unnamed person from Huawei. We weren't close enough to get a super detailed image, however what we could see does fit in with the image that leaked earlier.
