Ematic releases the FunTab 7 – A $119 Android 4.0 tablet for kids

If you're in the market for a fun but cheap Android tablet for the kids this holiday season, we might have found one for you. The folks from Ematic, who are known for their budget friendly Android tablets, have just released their all new 7-inch Ematic FunTab for kids. We have all the details below on this cheap kids device.

Walmart jumps on the 32GB Nexus 7 bandwagon

Earlier today, we received pricing confirmation from Office Depot that the 32GB version of the Nexus 7 would go for $249. Well, Walmart has jumped on the bandwagon, listing the 32GB version as "in stock" on its website. They have also dropped the price of the 16Gb version to $199. While Google has not officially announced the 32GB version or the price drop to $199 for the 16GB, Walmart has both ready to ship. We thought Office Depot may have jumped the gun on selling the new version of the Nexus 7, but this Walmart listing seems to confirm that the tablet is, in fact, ready for primetime. It seems that even though Google was forced to cancel the event where it was presumed that they would make the tablet official, retailers seem to be given the go ahead to sell the tablet. Presumably, other retailers will follow along with Walmart and Office Depot soon. Google has actually listed the 8GB and 16GB versions as out of stock. Google Play simply has a form for users to check and see when the tablet will be available again. With retailers listing the tablets for sale, we assume Google will start selling them on Google Play soon as well. Besides the 32GB Nexus 7, Google was also rumored to announce the Nexus 10, and the Nexus 4 from LG. Google has not announced when the event is rescheduled for, but we assume it will be after the hurricane dies down. We will keep you posted on all things Nexus 7 and Google's upcoming Android event. Samsung Galaxy Precedent: Off-Contract Alternative for $150

Recently revealed by Samsung, the Galaxy Precedent places as an intermediate mid-range device. But here's the kicker, it has an off-contract price we haven't really seen in a smartphone of this caliber - ever. For $150, the buyer faces no contract, no hidden fees, and can pay for a monthly Straight Talk plan. For the $45 (30-day) Straight Talk Unlimited plan, subscribers will be confined to limitations from Straight Talk's Terms and Conditions:
The Straight Talk Unlimited Plans MAY NOT be used for any other purpose.  Examples of prohibited uses include, without limitation, the following: (i) continuous mobile to mobile or mobile to landline voice calls; (ii) automated text or picture messaging to another mobile device or e-mail address; (iii) uploading, downloading or streaming of audio or video programming or games; (iv) server devices or host computer applications, including, but not limited to, Web camera posts or broadcasts, automatic data feeds, automated machine-to-machine connections or peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing; or (v) as a substitute or backup for private lines or dedicated data connections.  This means, by way of example only, that checking email, surfing the Internet, downloading legally acquired songs, and/or visiting corporate intranets is permitted, but downloading movies using P2P file sharing services and/or redirecting television signals for viewing on laptops is prohibited. A person engaged in prohibited uses may have his/her service terminated without notice or a refund.
As you can see, don't expect to use your "unlimited" web browsing experience on Pandora or you may get caught by big brother; yet illegal tethering of your device on the Straight Talk network has been left out of the Terms and Conditions… who would have thought? Hardware specs of the Samsung Galaxy Precedent include an 800Mhz processor, 384MB of RAM, and a 2MP rear facing camera. Its 3.2" display is quite small, but from the video demonstration the 320x480 resolution seems to suffice, especially for the $150 price tag. The Galaxy Precedent is not yet available, but expect to see it over at Walmart in due time. [via SlashGear]
