Verizon begins using LTE on new spectrum

Verizon has started implementing LTE service into the AWS it purchased last year. The acquisition, which cost Verizon $3.9 billion, is for the 700MHz Block C spectrum, which covers more than 300 million PoPs. Oddly enough, this is the same spectrum T-Mobile uses for their limited LTE coverage.

AT&T launching first VoLTE smartphone later this year

Recent talk coming from AT&T points towards the first VoLTE smartphone arriving sometime later this year. This little detail was mentioned by a senior AT&T executive and otherwise, the specifics were left to be a mystery. There wasn't anything said about the particular device, aside from that it will bring VoLTE support.

Verizon CFO details VoLTE plans and predictions

It sounds like Verizon has some pretty big plans and an ambitious outlook for its 4G LTE service next year. At the Oppenheimer Technology, Internet and Communications Conference in Bostin, Verizon CFO Fran Shammo shared what the company has in store for its customers on the first half of 2014, as well as his vision for LTE-only devices.

Verizon rolling out Voice over LTE in 2013

New reports have recently appeared regarding Verizon and their VoLTE services. What this offers is voice over their 4G LTE networks, something that currently isn't available. Verizon's ever expanding 4G LTE network is for data only and all voice calls are placed on their extremely wide 3G cellular networks.
