Verizon Moto G Android 4.4.2 rollout begins

Verizon released the Moto G back on January 9th. And while the handset arrived as a solid pre-paid option for Big Red customers, there was a slight bit of disappointment from some as it shipped with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Verizon did say the Kit Kat update would come in the "near future" however a specific timeline remained a mystery. But in a bit of good news, user reports are beginning to detail the Android 4.4.2 rollout.

Verizon Smart Rewards launched, gives you points for just about everything

Verizon recently introduced a rewards system, which acts just like the one you likely have for a credit card. The difference here is it’s via Verizon, and seems slightly more subversive than your “earn a point for every dollar you spend” credit card program. For those deeply entrenched in Verizon, this could be a boon. For those who just want to use a device on a carrier and not have them intrude on your life, it’s not going to sit well.

Verizon preps New York Subways in time for Super Bowl

Just before the Super Bowl, Verizon has increased their service in the greater New York area. More to the point, they are bringing service to 35 subway stations in the city, all on the west side of Manhattan. It’s good for those in town for the Super Bowl, and even better for New Yorkers who will be sticking around after.

Group asks the FCC to limit Verizon and AT&T’s options in upcoming spectrum auction

A group of smaller carriers have banded together to ask the FCC to place restrictions on Verizon and AT&T in an upcoming spectrum auction. The group, made up of some familiar names as well as a rag-tag bunch of also-ran carriers, is asking that the FCC do something about the two domestic behemoths. The group worries that having such a widespread portfolio will hurt them as well as consumers.

Verizon launches unlimited talk, text and 250MB data promo plan

Verizon Wireless has offered up some details for a new calling plan. This latest is arriving priced at $45 per month and aimed towards those looking to activate a single line of service. Simply put, this plan could save single line users a few bucks each and every month. One word of caution though, Verizon does have this listed as being available only for a limited time.

Verizon Ellipsis 7 update improving battery life, connectivity and more

Verizon Wireless caused a small bit of controversy when they launched the 7-inch Ellipsis 7 tablet as opposed to the Nexus 7 back in November of last year. While that issue seems to have blown over, Big Red has recently shared some details on a software update for the Ellipsis 7 tablet. The update brings only improvements, but judging from the changelog, it seems to be one that current users will want to grab.
