Who doesn’t love eBay right? Other than all the fees they’ve added over the years and outrageous seller feedback it is still an online auction powerhouse. With million and millions of users you know plenty are mobile. Yesterday they quickly updated their official eBay app for Android and added a host of new features, improved notifications, and the item view design is steadily improved. Check it out.

eBay has made tons of tweaks and improvements to make selling and buying on Android even easier. Not only that but for those listing, and often relisting auctions that has been overhauled as well. Another important addition is the new best offer notification — something users have been asking about for quite a while. Here’s the full change log for those interested:

– Best Offers and Best Offer notifications
– Access to Wish and Custom lists in My eBay
– List, relist and revise Parts & Accessories items (US)
– List, relist and revise items in Canada, France and India
– Share items on Facebook, Twitter and SMS
– Improved Item View design
– Lots of other new features and improvements throughout the app

Now when you search an auction and are on the item page you can scroll to the bottom and hit share to bring up the usual and popular Android share options for Gmail, SMS, Email, Twitter, Facebook and whatever else is in your list. Sadly nothing about the app feels like Android. While the design and user interface is decent, nothing matching Android’s design elements — except for maybe the search bar up top but even it feels clunky.

Get the latest eBay for Android from the link below and get to selling all that stuff you’d otherwise throw away. Oh and don’t expect it to work too great with a tablet either. We are still waiting on a tablet optimized app from eBay.

The extremely popular 3rd party text message client for Android Handcent SMS has just received a few more updates this week bringing tons of fixes, improvements, and changes.

The extremely popular 3rd party text message client for Android Handcent SMS has just received a few more updates this week bringing tons of fixes, improvements, and changes. Back in March they updated with official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich support and today they’ve released another update further enhancing 4.0 ICS support, as well as HTC Sense UI.

Handcent SMS is one of the most customizable text message apps for Android and has well over 10 million downloads to date. While their UI might not be the prettiest out of the box you can customize everything and make it exactly how you’d like it. My favorite feature is the quick reply pop-up box. Two updates this week have addressed several bugs with contact images, as well as multiple issues with Motorola phones as of late.

Today’s update further fixes any outstanding bugs with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and Handcent has also focused on Sense UI 4.0 that is running on the HTC One X and One S smartphones. Then their newest feature is custom background images on the custom message pop up box. You can now select any background you’d like, so long as it fits right.

It really is an excellent option for texts on Android if you’re not a fan of the stock app. Get it from the link below and let us know what you think.

Handcent SMS Link

HTC has just published another list officially confirming what HTC smartphones will be getting the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Although a few already have, many are still patiently waiting and they’ve even confirmed the HTC ThunderBolt will see Android 4.0 ICS sometime in July. According to HTC all the devices should be updated to ICS by July.

The list is mostly made of up phones released in the past 6-8 months, other than the Thunderbolt and the Incredible 2, and many have already been updated to 4.0. HTC has issued similar statements in the past but none of those had actual release dates. Today’s new is still pretty vague, basically saying June-July for almost all devices, at least we know they’ll be here soon.

The DROID Incredible 2 is the only device that is up-in-the-air and is still questionable for the upgrade. Other phones like the EVO 3D, ThunderBolt, HTC Rhyme, and even the EVO Design 4G will all see the update soon. It looks like the Thunderbolt will be last on the list, being one of the few listed as July/August along with the Desire HD. Sadly no mention of any tablets like the HTC Jetstream though. Check out the full list from the via link below courtesy of HTC themselves.

The official Netflix for Android has received a rather minor update this evening. While the update is pretty small it does promise an “enhanced playback experience” for phones and tablets, and even an additional installation method for those that might be having issues. Check out all the details after the break.

Netflix for Android has seen various updates and improvement over the past few months, including Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich support, improved UI and volume controls, and now this update today. While the video playback and streaming still leaves something to be desired I can honestly say this update does improve the experience as they claim. Even WiFi could be better, but we’ll take it for now. Here’s the official changelog:

– Enhanced playback experience on phones and tablets
– Improved stability
– General bug fixes

Neflix has also added a secondary installation method for some reason. While it’s nice that they are offing this for anyone having “problems” I don’t know of anything worth mentioning in regards to updating an app from the Play Store directly.

If you are having problems updating your application, you can update your device manually by opening your mobile browser and going to this URL: http://tinyurl.com/nflx180
Once the application is downloaded please tap on it and follow the instructions to install this application. In some cases you may have to allow applications from untrusted sources to be installed.

I guess that is better than downloading and installing some random and possibly unsafe version of Netflix. After all that was an issue last year for Netflix when fake versions were causing some problems. If you’re going to install it manually at least use the correct one from Netflix themselves. Get the update from the Play Store link and enjoy all of our Netflix coverage below.

Netflix for Android Link

ASUS has just hit the start button on another update for their latest slate. The Transformer Pad TF300 quad-core tablet is getting a quick improvement or two starting today. Earlier this month ASUS updated the tablet and released the source code for those interested, and now are pushing another quickie out for the new budget-friendly tablet.

In early May the update was available for the US, and many other regions but today this appears to be rolling out for the US model. Bumping the build version from 9.4.3.23 to 9.4.3.29 and bringing along a few small changes. Just like the Transformer Prime, the TF300 OTA is helping out the WiFi and camera as both of those versions have been changed. The TF300 doesn’t suffer the same WiFi issues as the Prime, but any improvements are more than welcome.

According to Droid-Life the update is rather small and no noticeable changes were made other than the very few mentioned above. If you’ve got one give it a try and let us know what has changed. If you’d like your own Transformer Pad TF300 quad-core tablet make sure you head over and enter our TF300 Tegra Zone Giveaway.

Motorola is at it again, talking about updates for the handsets and which devices will not see an update to the latest version of Android. Late Friday afternoon Motorola commented on their blog showing what phones will be updated to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and even mentioned a few wouldn’t be updated because there isn’t enough improvements.

Here’s the quick explanation, which is the same route that Motorola sadly took here. If the upgrade to Android 4.0 ICS won’t “improve” the device, they won’t be updating it. That’s the gist of their blog post. Devices like the DROID X2 (powerful dual-core smartphone) won’t be getting updated, and neither will the DROID 3. I could understand them not upgrading an older device like those with only 512 MB of RAM (although Google did this just fine) but to not be updating a phone as new as the DROID 3 and claiming it won’t “improve” the phone is just upsetting.

You may be wondering why all devices aren’t being upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Here’s the deal. We work very closely with Google and cell phone carriers for every software update. And, obviously we want the new release to improve our devices. If we determine that can’t be done—well then, we’re not able to upgrade that particular device.

Now that Google’s finally got all the approvals for the Moto buyout hopefully something will be changing soon, but I have some serious doubts. The same blog post by Motorola has a link to their upgrade timeline, that seems to only list phones with 1GB of RAM getting the update, so that could be their thinking. Sadly since their bootloaders are so locked down developers can’t easily get into the mix and help out Motorola owners so for now users might be out of luck. I could understand if these phones weren’t capable of handling Android 4.0 ICS, but they are perfectly capable just like the Nexus S.

What does everyone think of Motorola’s latest comments? They are vague and I don’t think “improve” was the right word in this case, since we all know ICS improves devices all around. Sigh!

This morning T-Mobile has updated their support pages with another update to one of their most popular phones. After the Amaze 4G update was tipped this morning we are now seeing an update rolling out to the Samsung Galaxy S II for T-Mobile. Sadly we have some bad news though. The update is only an incremental update and is still Android 2.3 Gingerbread — no Ice Cream Sandwich just yet.

Like most small updates this is mainly fixing a few bugs, improving performance, and various other fixes. The Galaxy S II update is about 32MB in size and rolling to handsets now. As usual you can manually pull the update from menu > settings > software update and give it a go today. T-Mobile does list the update as rolling out until late June. Does this mean the ICS update will be after that date? If so users have another month or so of waiting.

No US carrier Galaxy S II’s have officially been updated just yet to ICS, but hopefully they are coming soon. Other than fixing a few random reboot problems, improving stability, and adding some of Google’s security fixes this update is pretty minor and probably also laying some ground work for the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update that Samsung has confirmed is on the way. Let us know how the update goes by dropping us a comment below.

One of Sony’s recent flagship smartphones, the Xperia S has some pretty impressive specs when it launched earlier this year but sadly still came with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Sony did add a few ICS-like features with folders and such but it isn’t quite the same. We have good news today because over at the Sony forums we’re hearing the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is coming soon.

With a 4.3-inch HD display, a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and a 12 megapixel camera this is one of Sony’s top tier phones, if not their current flagship. Many bought the phone hoping ICS was coming soon and now you’ll be getting your wish. According to what we’ve heard Sony will be updating the Xperia S to Android 4.0 ICS later this month or in early June. So you can expect to see the update within the next 3-4 weeks.

With no Ericsson around and this being purely a Sony branded device they are at least headed in the right direction in terms of specs, hardware, and now software. Sony has some impressive smartphone and hopefully they’ll start to compete better with HTC and Samsung, especially here in the US. For now users of the impressive Xperia S will have to wait just a few more weeks and they’ll be able to enjoy the frozen treat of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Let us know when you receive the update via the tips at the top of the page.

Another official build from Motorola and Verizon for the popular DROID Bionic has been leaked recently. Sadly we are still waiting for the official Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Bionic, and now that seems to be pretty far off. When we are still seeing Gingerbread builds leak, that can’t be a good thing for the Android 4.0 ICS progress.

According to the details from the folks at Droidfurms this Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread build doesn’t appear to do much, and didn’t even bump the Bionic to 2.3.6 or 2.3.7 Gingerbread. With the DROID 4 seeing an ICS leak recently many were hoping the Bionic was next but that still isn’t the case. Almost every other new Motorola DROID phone has seen an ICS leak, but none have been officially updated yet.

Verizon and Motorola list the update as build 5.9.905 for the Bionic, and with soak test invites for an update going out a few weeks ago it looks like this might be the final version ready for users. From the comments it appears to be quite minor, possibly preparing the Bionic for Android 4.0 ICS to arrive later. Other than that there’s a few battery saving updates as well as better 3G/4G hand-offs and general performance. You can give it a try, or wait for the official update which should arrive shortly.

The folks from Imangi Studios have been busy with their hit sensation game Temple Run for Android. You should all know plenty about this much anticipated game that saw millions of downloads overnight. Today however, they’ve released another much needed update offering support for more Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones and tablets.

With more and more phones being updated to Android 4.0 ICS Temple Run needed a quick update to solve some compatibility issues and ensure optimal performance and today’s update brings just that. If your new ICS build on the HTC Sensation, or Galaxy S II has been having issues you should give Temple Run another try today.

Apparently there was also a major bug where Temple Run was using low-res, low DPI textures and graphics for higher end HD and high DPI devices that was causing graphics to suffer. Now all high resolution phones should be seeing the best and prettiest graphics available. I don’t know about you guys but the game seems to look great on my Transformer Prime, but if the graphics just got better I’m all for it. As usual Imangi states the usual bug fixes and performance enhancements. If you’ve been having issues hit the Play link below and give this addicting game another try.

Temple Run Link

The folks over at ASUS are pushing out another minor update for their popular NVIDIA powered Eee Pad Transformer tablet. It’s seen more updates than most tablet around but they are all quite small. Today’s however brings a few more needed bug fixes, as well as Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich‘s popular face unlock feature.

First off the update is build version 9.2.1.24 according to Droid-Life and brings the much awaited feature of ICS Face Unlock. Now users can unlock the device using the front facing camera. While this isn’t anything important it has been missing and was recently added to the Prime. Another change was a few software side fixes for the casual reboot users still have, as well as Bluetooth.

Bluetooth was updated from v8.27 to v8.30 and should have improved connections as well as enhance stability for multiplayer games and streaming audio. I’ve never really had issues with WiFi or Bluetooth on mine so can’t really comment on that part of the update. ASUS recently started showing full change-logs and you can find out everything from the update at the source link below.

If you’re the owner of the HTC Amaze 4G smartphone on the T-Mobile network in the United States, good news. T-Mobile has tipped that the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will land on May 21. That would be Monday of next week.

T-Mobile said in early December of 2011 that the Amaze 4G would be getting the Android 4.0 update. However, at the time the update was announced we had no firm date on when it would be available. T-Mobile didn’t indicate if the rollout of the update would be staggered or if everyone using the Amaze 4G will get the update at the same time.

On a related note, if you use the T-Mobile Sensation 4G, your ICS update is available today according to T-Mobile. You need to check for the update via the Android settings menu to initiate the download. Be sure you let us know how the update goes for you.

Mozilla has just released another update to their popular browser for Android today. This was just released this afternoon and is actually the Firefox for Android beta. If you’re using the standard release you’ll want to check out the newest beta because of its redesigned user interface and more. Check out the details below.

The new Firefox beta has completely overhauled the user interface, and it’s what we can expect to see (or similar) in the next stable versions release. The design elements match Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich more closely, but still is unique to Firefox, and then they’ve added one major thing users have been asking for. We now have full Adobe Flash support in the latest beta, but things seem a little choppy this go around to be honest.

I’m an avid Chrome beta user but hoping to see what Mozilla can do with their mobile browser. Sadly like mentioned above usage is still a bit choppy, multitouch is weird to control, and flash support — while needed — didn’t help the performance that is for sure. Sync and tabs have been improved and I’m liking what we’ve seen thus far, hopefully Mozilla and the Firefox mobile team keep up the good work. Hit the link below to give the latest beta for Android a try today.

Today Adobe is pushing a quick and stealthy update to Flash Player 11.2 in the Google Play Store that is fixing some problems with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Although they’ve claimed to be dropping support, today’s update will fix some problems specifically related to Android 4.0 ICS, but you’ll have to dig for a change log from Adobe.

The what’s new section on the Play Store doesn’t reveal anything new as the version of Flash will vary from device to device (as will the changes) but the official change log at Adobe.com shows security patches and fixes for a critical security flaw on Android 2.3, 3.0, and 4.0 with the rest of the changes and improvements being related strictly to Android 4.0 ICS. Nothing too exciting folks but here’s the list:

Android

-Seeking while video is paused does not update the frame on Android 4.0 devices (2995454)
-StageVideo using On2 and Sorenson does not work on Android 4.0 devices – AIR Only (3053819)
-After disposing a context3D and requesting a new one, or returning to application from background the new context3D will render black for few frames (3019048)

The main changes are related to video pausing, and seeking (fast forward) on Android 4.0 ICS where users would see black bars instead of actual video for a few frames, as well as frame delays while seeking through video content. While the changes are minimal anything to make video playback smoother and easier is a plus right? Now I can continue watching anything and everything I want on my Galaxy Nexus.

Archos has issued another round of firmware updates for their mildly popular Archos G9 80 and 101 Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich tablets. the Archos G9 line might not be the best hardware around, or the nicest, but for a great price they are impressive tablets that run a pretty stock version of Android 4.0 ICS. More details on yesterdays update are available after the break.

The update started rolling out yesterday and will fix a slew of bug and performance should be steadily improved. According to the change log provided by Archos you can expect better WiFi, GPS improvements, as well as less random reboots. Here’s the full list of changes with the firmware update:

Version 4.0.6 – May 3rd, 2012

-Wi-Fi: fix more disconnect cases happening on some access points
-GPS: increase stability of GPS
-HDMI: do not propose overscan setting when TV supports underscan
-muSD: improve reliability of card insertion detection
-muSD: fix read/write permission issue occurring with some applications
-Applications: fix platform reboot occurring sometimes after a while when using high CPU demanding applications

As a reminder, version 4.0.6 is the internal build name from Archos themselves. This is not Android 4.0.6 folks, you’ll still be on Android 4.0.3 after updating to the latest firmware — confusing I know. Archos has stated that the new firmware is rolling out now for both the Archos G9 80 and larger 101 tablets and users should be getting it as we speak. Feel free to manually check for updates if you’d rather not wait, then report back in our comment section below with thoughts or if you see any new problems.

The brand new ASUS Transformer Pad 300, also known as the TF300T, has been available for a few weeks and already ASUS is pushing a firmware update that is bringing tons of new features, and making a couple of quick changes. Not only have they released an update, but ASUS has also made the source code available for download to those interested.

It looks like ASUS has released a quick firmware update to version V9.4.3.17 for three countries, including the US, as well as a version for the Japan model. You can check for updates now, or hit the links below to get the new firmware updates today. For more details on this impressive quad-core budget Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich check out our full Transformer Pad 300 Review.

Along with the update ASUS has also been so kind as to release the TF300T’s source code for those that like to get dirty with Android code. Two versions are available for download supporting the current, and updated firmware versions for Android 4.0.3 ICS and are available at the link below. The update should also be rolling out to devices so be sure and check for updates if you’re rocking the TF300T from ASUS.

Good news folks, the 5 people that still own the Motorola Cliq 2 on T-Mobile are finally getting an update for the aging handset. Apparently Motorola and T-Mobile have decided the phone deserves an update and are finally delivering the social phone Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Only this won’t come over the air and users will have to manually install the update.

The CLIQ 2 was released in January of last year and was showing its age back then, and in today’s technology world is quite dated. We heard the update was coming back in February but was apparently delayed an additional 2 months because it’s finally available this week for those interested. Who’s excited?

If you’re still rocking the Cliq 2 after almost a year and a half, you’ll be happy to know that you can download Motorola’s update software for Windows (only Windows at the moment) and update the Cliq to Gingerbread should you choose. Hey, the phone will have a better connection, and battery life and browser performance should be much improved with the new update. If you still have the Cliq 2 you’ll want to check out this update soon, or possibly upgrade to the new HTC One S because it’s awesome.

We have good news today for those of you still rocking the DROID X2, or even the QWERTY slider Motorola DROID 3. Well this is sort of good news. The phones aren’t getting Ice Cream Sandwich, but updates are starting to roll out for both of the popular DROID handsets today. According to the folks …

We have good news today for those of you still rocking the DROID X2, or even the QWERTY slider Motorola DROID 3. Well this is sort of good news. The phones aren’t getting Ice Cream Sandwich, but updates are starting to roll out for both of the popular DROID handsets today.

According to the folks at Droid-Life Motorola has sent invites for software testing, better known as “soak tests” for both phones and those signing up have already started to see the updates appear on their phones. The DROID X2 saw an OTA update earlier this year so most likely the changes will be quite small for that phone. The DROID 3 on the other hand should be getting a sizable update that should address any outstanding bugs or issues.

Currently these are going out to testers only, and aren’t ready for the masses yet. Usually once the public starts seeing the tests the actual updates from Verizon and Motorola aren’t too far away, so expect some updates here soon. Once Verizon officially details the updates on their support pages we’ll be sure and confirm any and all changes and improvements.

Watch your favorite shows from HBO anywhere with HBO GO. The streaming service provided for subscribers to HBO and MAX has been something I’ve always used to watch the latest Game of Thrones or catch up on True Blood episodes, but along came my Galaxy Nexus and it wasn’t supported. Today HBO has updated both of their GO movie streaming apps so almost everyone can enjoy them.

Yup, HBO and MAX GO have both been updated with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich support, including the Galaxy Nexus. Sadly my only other complaint is still present, and that is the lack of tablet support. The iPad has been able to enjoy HBO GO for a long, long time, but sadly Android is still left in the dust here.

Updating their app to work with Android 4.0 ICS gave me hope that they’d possibly enhanced the user interface too and it would now work with tablets, since that is what 4.0 ICS is for – joining the tablet and smartphone interface into one. Instead they’ve only made HBO GO compatible with ICS phones and my Transformer Prime is still unsupported. Hopefully HBO has a tablet app in the works, or will straighten up and allow tablets to install their application. In the meantime enjoy HBO and MAX GO on your smartphones with the apps linked to below.

Now that all the Samsung news has calmed down this morning lets talk about keyboards. The popular SwiftKey keyboard has just received another update today for those who take part in their VIP beta. After we announced the new SwiftKey 3 last month, today they’ve added tons of user-requested features and once again improved on their ever so popular layout.

While Swiftkey X is still the version in the Google Play Store, you can get the new SwiftKey 3 from their VIP forums by signing up here. Then you’ll be able to enjoy the all new design, improved prediction, and great user interface that comes with SwiftKey 3. It looks like things are moving along great in the VIP Beta because the update today brings a handful of fixes and user-requested changes. Here’s the full change-log from SwiftKey.

-Improved the UI: there is now a dedicated comma key, and the <123> key is now in the bottom-left corner. And of course you still have the larger spacebar.
-Refined the Smart Punctuation pop-up.
-Reintroduced the Long-press duration setting.
-Improved Smart Space functionality.
-Further reduced lag on some devices.
-Fixed a number of bugs, including the missing decimal point in the numpad and the “What’s New” dialog popping up all the time.

They’ve moved the 123 button to the bottom left and replaced it with a dedicated comma button — which makes sense. They also improved the smart punctuation pop-up as many weren’t too pleased with the previous implementation although it doesn’t feel too different if you ask me. My main problem was some lag, and the punctuation popup sticking on-screen and both of those have been improved. Things are fast, fluid, stable, and makes typing a breeze. Things are looking pretty good right about now and I’m expecting this to be released to the public here soon.

I particularly like the new .com/.net/.tv shortcut on the keyboard. Very handy. For VIP members get the latest beta version of SwiftKey 3 by clicking here.
