Since we first laid eyes on this innovative tablet at CES, we’ve always wondered what it would be like if Android was running on such a device. Well, our dreams have come true, Lenovo has opted out of using their own custom version of Linux in favor of Android. They also have pushed back the release most likely in preparation for an Android loaded Skylight and UI Hybrid.
The Compal 7 is an Android tablet that features the famed Tegra 2 chips, it was recently handled at the Netbook Summit here in San Francisco. Is it just me or is the wait for these NVIDIA Tegra 2 tablets following in the footsteps of Flash 10 for Android. It seems like we’ve been waiting on these to arrive for a year now. Multi-touch is a deciding factor for a lot of people when considering their next mobile phone. Android has not been known to be the best in this area. Most notable, the nexus One, has been perceived as having a subpar multi-touch display. Until know we’ve always heard that you have to choose between having a beautiful display or a very accurate multi-touch display. Samsung has brought them both together in the Galaxy S.
Canadian carrier Bell has just released the Motorola Dext, you may know this device as the Motorola Cliq. Bell had announced in the past that this phone will be due in the first half of this year, they are cutting it real close but it’s finally been released.
Archos has officially announced the Archos 7 Android tablet today. This tablet has a 7 inch touch screen and is built to be a great multimedia/web browsing device. You can now preorder it from Amazon for $199. It comes preloaded with a custom version of Android 1.6.
Guess it won’t be long now, this device was promised for a Q2 release and the end of that quarter is fast approaching. The Dell Aero has just received approval from the FCC. This device is expected to land on AT&T in June. This device will keep the name Aero at launch, often times the name is changed when a device is released.
South Korea is getting a lot of top notch Android devices from many different manufacturers. Samsung has just released their Android powered Galaxy A on SK Telecom today. Although, the CPU is a bit toned down from what we originally thought it would ship with. There’s still no word on how much this will cost.
Today, T-Mobile official announced the newest addition to the myTouch family, the myTouch 3G Slide. We’ve heard many rumors in past few months about this device but now it official. This device is slated for release in June, that’s right folk, next month you can go pick one up. This is an Android 2.1 device with a custom version of HTC’s Sense UI called Espresso. It also packs in a few other surprises as well.
