Toshiba Excite X10 Hands-On

This is undoubtedly Toshiba's best tablet to date, and has a great thin form factor. There was no lag while operating the device on the showroom floor, but there weren't many strenuous programs preloaded on it to give it a true test. It comes in at .3 inches thin with an aluminum backing, and is running Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) - it will be updated to Android 4.0 after release. We saw earlier that the Excite X10 had a generous 10.1" 1280x800 display, 1GB RAM, and ran over a 1.2GHz TI OMAP 4430 processor. There is both a 5MP rear camera, and a 1.3MP front facing video cam. As you can see, it runs perfectly smooth in the demo, so the final model will likely be even better. It will launch at $529.99 for the 16GB, and a definite release date is not yet determined. Until now, Toshiba's tablets haven't been quite eye-friendly. But if this new style continues and they drop the price a little bit, they could have a great selling product. [gallery]

Toshiba 7″ tablet images appear as Toshiba preps for CES

Toshiba and their tablets aren't really what I'd call pretty or thin but at this years CES Toshiba aims to change that. The Toshiba AT200 (Excite) we've seen plenty of in the past is set to make a big splash this year, coming in as one of the thinnest Android tablets on the street. We are now seeing pictures of a new budget 7" tablet that could be roaming the CES halls.

Toshiba’s 7-inch Thrive available now

I'm sure there's at least one person out there who absolutely loved everything about Toshiba's 10-inch thrive Honeycomb tablet (even the headache-inducing commercials) except for its to-inch size. Well rejoice, One Guy, because the long-leaked 7-inch variant is available from Toshiba now, and should be hitting US retailers in the near future. The 16GB and 32GB versions will set you back $379.99 and $429.99, respectively.

Toshiba Excite AT200 gets a February 2012 release in Canada

Many were somewhat underwhelmed with Toshiba's Android tablet debut, the 10-inch Thrive, even with its fabulous marketing strategy of telling consumers how smart they were through Tony Bennet-style singing. The second revision, now renamed the Excite, is headed for a release up north in February of next year. Mobile Syrup quotes an anonymous source that contradicts its January date on the website. Canadians looking for a super-slim Honeycomb tablet, try to contain your excitement.

Toshiba Thrive Android 3.2 Honeycomb update on the way

We've just been given word that the Toshiba Thrive tablet's update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb is currently en route and should be hitting devices as we speak. It was promised to arrive back in October but sadly that never happened. Better late than never right? The OTA update brings the Thrive to build version 3.2.1.31.5.0002 and should be available now.

IFA 2011 Wrap-Up

As you may already know, we were live and in action this year in Berlin at IFA 2011, and without a doubt it was a year for tablets on the Android front. Samsung, Toshiba, and ViewSonic brought the heat while Lenovo brings on the candy-coated goodness. Then there's what many have considered the superstar of the whole show: the Samsung Galaxy Note; not a smartphone yet not quite a tablet - kind of like the Britney Spears of Android mobile devices, if you will. Take a dunk with us as we get hands-on looks at everything under the sun.
