Toshiba Thrive tablet Android 4.0 ICS update now available

Good news for the few rocking a Toshiba Thrive tablet. Their 10-inch model is finally getting the much awaited update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Toshiba is a little behind on their initial announcement dates for the update, but at least it's finally available. More details after the break.

Well it looks like Toshiba has some rather bad news this morning regarding their Thrive tablets. Announcing that the Toshiba Thrive and Thrive 7-inch tablets won't be receiving the update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich this month as originally reported, and instead will be waiting until sometime this fall.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is all the rage right now and we are slowly learning the update paths and plans for all the popular devices. Toshiba has been pretty quite as of late but this week they finally gave us a little more details although nothing concrete. Confirming that Android 4.0 ICS for the Thrive wont be here for a while. Possibly as late as the end of June.

I'm sure there's at least one person out there who absolutely loved everything about Toshiba's 10-inch thrive Honeycomb tablet (even the headache-inducing commercials) except for its to-inch size. Well rejoice, One Guy, because the long-leaked 7-inch variant is available from Toshiba now, and should be hitting US retailers in the near future. The 16GB and 32GB versions will set you back $379.99 and $429.99, respectively.

We've just been given word that the Toshiba Thrive tablet's update to Android 3.2 Honeycomb is currently en route and should be hitting devices as we speak. It was promised to arrive back in October but sadly that never happened. Better late than never right? The OTA update brings the Thrive to build version 3.2.1.31.5.0002 and should be available now.

It might not be the thinnest, lightest, or have the best looks but this tablet can do it all, and today it's just $299 for the 16GB version. Yes, we are talking about the Toshiba Thrive 10" Honeycomb tablet. I recently saw it for $370 at Walmart although this deal is even better than that, but it wont last long.

Toshiba’s new ultra-thin tablet to be called the Toshiba Excite

With IFA kicking off any day now we are starting to see leaks of upcoming devices a bit early. Just yesterday we learned about the new Toshiba tablet coming to market soon that is said to be much much thinner than the Thrive. We are now hearing the follow up to the Thrive will be much thinner, and lighter yet still offer things like the full-sized USB port.
