Researchers use urine to power Samsung cell phone

We all have to charge our cell phones on a regular basis, and we all have to, er, relieve ourselves on a regular basis. Perhaps such was the inspiration behind the work of researchers at the The University of the West of England and University of Bristol who have created a means of charging a cell phone using urine. The technology is called "microbial fuel cells," and a search for funding is underway.

Sony Smartwatch 2 release date tipped for September

Late last month the folks from Sony announced their plans to offer a new and improved Sony Smartwatch 2 wearable device with a 1.6-inch display. One that builds on the previous generation. After initial reports suggested a July 15th release date in the UK, today that's been pushed into September.

GEAK Watch wants to be the first true Android ‘smartwatch’

While wearable technology and computing is really starting to take off, I've found myself struggling with the idea behind a smartwatch. I've admitted I'm not a fan in the past, but this new watch from a Shanghai-based company called the GEAK Watch has my attention. Why you ask? Because it claims to do so much more than most of those other so called "smartwatches" we've seen in the past.
