Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 rated by iFixit, James Franco stars in new ad
The fine folks at iFixit have ripped apart the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 in an effort to find out how repair-friendly it is. The results were pretty good too, with iFixit giving the tablet a repairability rating of 8/10. It's not perfect, but it's a whole lot better than the third-gen iPad, which only managed to take home a 2/10 rating.

GameStop’s game streaming service arrives in 2013
GameStop has announced that its game streaming service will be launching in summer 2013, but at least at first, it won't be available on consoles. Dubbed "Spawn," GameStop has been talking about this cloud gaming service ever since it bought Spawn Labs back in 2011. Obviously, GameStop means to expand beyond brick and mortar retail with this move, challenging other streaming services like OnLive and Gaikai while dipping its hand in a broader range of markets in the process.

Acer Iconia Tab A210 gets a charming new ad
We're still being left in the dark as to when Acer is planning to launch its new Iconia Tab A210, but this new advertisement we have posted for you after the jump seems to suggest that Acer is gearing up for launch. We got our first introduction to the Iconia Tab A210's hardware back in June, and even though it's quite similar to the Iconia Tab A200, there are a few key differences. One of those differences is the inclusion of a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, which is a significant step up for the A200's dual-core Tegra 2 CPU.

Google introduces Handwrite search for smartphones and tablets
If you're like me and you have fat fingers that don't do well when presented with a tiny touchscreen keyboard, then Google's new Handwrite search might just be what you're looking for. Google has officially rolled out the beta for its new Handwrite search functionality, and it allows you to write your search term with your finger instead of typing it into the search field. As with regular Google Search, you can write-in only a partial phrase and then pick from a list of common search terms, which should come in handy when using Handwrite on a smaller screen, such as a smartphone.

AT&T Q2 2012 financial results see 5.1m smartphones sold
We've been getting a lot of excellent quarterly financial reports in lately. From Samsung and Qualcomm to Verizon and now AT&T, smartphones and tablets are making a lot of people filthy rich. AT&T sold a whopping 5.1 million smartphones in Q2 of its fiscal year, with 61.9% of its postpaid subscribers using a smartphone. That 61.9% figure jibes quite well with what we've been hearing from Nielsen lately, which says that in Q2, 2 out of every 3 people who purchased a phone went with a smartphone over a feature phone.

Samsung to make ‘major’ Galaxy announcement next month
Samsung has informed everyone that it's planning to make a major Galaxy-related announcement on August 15. Naturally, we don't know what this announcement is - that would take all the fun out of it - but our friends at SlashGear are guessing that it has something to do with the Galaxy Tab or the Galaxy Note. Since Samsung just released the Galaxy S III in May, we're tempted to agree.

Tablet shipments could hit 383.3 million by 2017
Many of us were skeptical at first, but there's no doubt tablets have revolutionized the way we run our daily lives - that is, if you have one. It's estimated the tablet market will group from 72.7 million units to 383.3 by 2017. But what does this mean for the average consumer? That tablets are right on there way to hitting the "sweet-spot" price point that we've been waiting for.

DROID XYBOARD tablets arriving at Verizon, Launch date unknown
Just like the popular Galaxy Nexus we are now hearing the Motorola DROID XYBOARD tablets are also starting to arrive in stores and on the shelves at Verizon Wireless -- only on shelves in the back room of course. Neither of these devices have an official launch date and are chillin in what I'd like to call "Verizon Limbo" because you know as much as we do at this point. Same probably goes for all the retail employees.
