Despite the fact that DirecTV has had an Android app available for some time now. And not even counting the bit about them having an app available for the iPhone and iPad -- they have finally released a tablet intended for Android users. The app, which is dubbed DirecTV for Tablets can be found in the Google Play Store, however some Android tablet users may not be able to use the app.

Sony had previously announced the Xperia Tablet Z and at that time they had said the global roll-out would begin with Japan. Well, keeping on that same word, we now have some details in terms of the release date. Simply put, the Xperia Tablet Z will be available for those in Japan beginning on March 22. The key here is beginning as there will also be a second release date in Japan.

Details have slowly been leaking for the Galaxy Tab 3 and while we have seen several possible model numbers mentioned, we have yet to see any sort of official announcement from Samsung. Some had believed the announcement was going to happen during Mobile World Congress, but as we now know, that was not the case. Anyway, while it would be nice to talk of word from Samsung, it looks like we have additional details coming from a recently discovered Bluetooth SIG filing.

This week Asus pulled the wraps off the new device that has two different operating systems in one unit. The product is called the Asus Transformer AiO P1801 PC/tablet hybrid. The machine is set to officially launch on April 12 and is a bit of the tablet in PC hybrid.

Battery Life: keeping charged while on the go
There is plenty to talk about when it comes to battery life and keeping your devices charged while on the go. At risk of stating the obvious, but this is one of those times when there never seems to be enough and where bigger seems to be better. The exception to that rule comes when the battery is large enough that it adds serious weight and size to the device. Anyway, the topic of batteries came up when we saw that Woot offering from last week, the one where they were offering the messenger and sling-style bags for $39. Basically, while trying to decide whether I needed to purchase the Powerbag, it got me to wondering -- how are most users keeping their device charged while out and about.

Word of another Android tablet has arrived. This latest is the Amplify and it has come by way of News Corp. The tablet is sporting a 10-inch display and aimed towards the education market. Simply put, the Amplify tablet will come bundled with some software that relates to teachers as well as students. The Amplify tablet is expected to be available for use this coming school year.

Verizon Wireless announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE back in January during CES. At that time the release details and pricing were left a mystery and it was simply said that the tablet would be arriving in the coming weeks. Well, it looks like those coming weeks will be arriving very shortly. Simply put, Verizon has said the Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE will be available on March 7.

How big is too big when it comes to a smartphone? That is the question here in 2013. With devices like the 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy Note II being readily available the limits were already being pushed, but this year the lines are going to get blurred even more. Would you hold an 8-inch phablet to the side of your head in public? Samsung and ASUS seem to think so.
