Android still on top in comScore’s November 2012 market share report
comScore has delivered its market share report for November 2012, and unsurprisingly, Android finds itself at the top of the charts yet again. For the three month period ending in November 2012, Android's market share grew to 53.7%, up 1.1 percentage points from the three month period ending August 2012. iOS was on the rise in that period too, gaining 0.7 percentage points over the period ending in November to settle at 35%.

Android climbs to 68.1% market share in Q2 2012
The International Data Corporation has released its Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker results for Q2 2012, and things are looking great for the little green robot. IDC says that in all, 154 million smartphones were shipped in quarter 2 alone, and of those, 104.8 million were Android handsets. That gives Android a whopping 68.1% market share for quarter 2, and it appears that we have Samsung to thank for that.

Nielsen – Users want more Android
According to a recent survey done by AC Nielsen, smartphone users are hungry for more Android. The survey found that users preferred the Bot over both iOS and RIM phones, representing a dramatic shift from a similar survey just ten months ago. The latest figures show that 31 percent of consumers plan to purchase a new Android Smartphone, while 30 percent are looking to get an iPhone. RIM was a distant third with just 11 percent saying they preferred the business oriented handset.

Gartner’s revises predictions on Android’s meteroic rise
It's easy to predict a meteoric rise half way through, but analysts Gartner has done just that, revising it's prediction on the Android's dominance in the marketplace. Back in 2009, Gartner was absolutely convinced that there would be a three way tie between Android, the iPhone, and RIM for smart phone market share. Clearly that didn't happen as Android exploded, and now Gartner expects that by next year, Android will control a full 49% of the smartphone market. While the iPhone is quickly surpassed by the Robot (old news) Gartner's predictions now show modest growth, but nowhere near being able to keep pace.

Android sails past BlackBerry to become the number one smartphone platform

Android sails past BlackBerry to become the number one smartphone platform
Like watching a semi rumble past from the side of the road, Android has sailed past BlackBerry to become the number on smartphone platform in terms of market share. Nearly one third (31.2%) of US Smart phones now run the Google operating system, while only 30.4% of smartphones ran on BlackBerry during the same period from February 2010 to January 2011. Apple's share of the smartphone pie has remained rather flat during the time, while Microsoft's market share was cut nearly in half, even after the debut of Windows Phone 7. The rise of the Android's platform has occurred in just over two years and can largely be due to Google's open source philosophy which has been adopted by a wide range of smartphone manufactures, but really hit it's stride after Motorola released the Droid in 2009.

Android’s Marketshare Tossed Back and Forth by Nielsen
It seems like every couple of days now there's a new report saying that Android is either the fastest growing group in the Mobile world or that it's not even close to being up on top - Nielsen today reports that it's sort of both. In a November 2010 - January 2011 report, Nielsen shows that although Android holds the top position in OS marketshare, but loses out on being the strongest because of its reliance on third-party manufacturers such as HTC, Motorola, Samsung, and all the rest.

Another Dual Screen Android phone pops up … sort of
Murmurs were abound this week as Kyocera announced a dual-touchscreen phone that looked like a Nintendo DSi that makes phone calls. Now there may be another as Fujitsu looked poised to jump into the dual-touchscreen pool. Only, instead of a landscape style screen, they're doing for a portait vibe ... with "options." And it's very interesting.

Android Users Are Not Loyal to their OS, iPhone Users Are
We all love our Android devices. Yes, we would like to see faster updates on some phones, but other than that we really enjoy the Android platform. However, in an interesting study conducted of over 2,600 mobile phone users in Brazil, Germany, Spain, Britain, the United States and China the results show that Android only has 28 percent loyalty despite the plurality of manufacturers on which its OS is available.
