Apple multitouch patent tentatively declared invalid by USPTO

Most of us are already familiar with Apple's '949 multi-touch patent, more famously know as "The Steve Jobs patent." It has been used against a number of companies in patent suits, but unfortunately for Apple, the United States Patent and Trademark Office declared today that all 20 claims of it are invalid. FOSS Patents reports that the USPTO did so with a first Office action, which is considered to be something of a preliminary action.

Rumor: Samsung and Google’s Nexus Prime event rescheduled for October 27 [UPDATED]

Android enthusiasts the world over got a nasty shock this morning when they learned that the Samsung Unbox event, long rumored to unveil the Nexus Prime and Ice Cream Sandwich, had been booted out of CTIA on October the 11th. According to an anonymous source from The Next Web, that event has been moved back to October 27th, possibly set at a London venue. At the time of writing, there is no confirmation from either Samsung or Google.

Well, just one day after the announcement of the new iPhone 4S we have some terribly sad news. Today Apple board of directors have now confirmed that Steve Jobs has passed away. It deeply saddens me to have to write this story, Steve will always be remembered for his utterly amazing work and everything he has achieved and accomplished.
