Yesterday, we posted a work around for Spring Epic 4G users who were having trouble with the Android 2.2 (Froyo) upgrade. The issues were reported to be with data connectivity to the SD card and failure to access photos, music etc. The work around revolved a hard reset. But it seems now that the issue is more involved than previously thought as Sprint has completely suspended the Froyo roll-out until they can figure out where the issue really lies.
So it appears that ClockworkMod, one of the greats as far as chopping up and reconstructing your Android goes, is tipping new and exciting additional devices it'll work with. The Huawei Ascend recovery is now on ROM Manager, Epic 4G should be there too. The most exciting thing they've tipped is "a tablet," which they say will be coming this week as well.
If you have an Epic 4G from sprint and you use it heavily, chances are you have noticed the pesky 3G upload. It turns out that users were experiencing caps around 150kbps, and this can be very annoying and unneeded. It seems that a fix is coming, and coming very soon - tomorrow.
We told you about the deal on the Epic 4G yesterday, that you can get on Amazon. Today it is officially available through Sprint now. Drive on over to Sprint and see if they have one to check out. Don't forget you can get the EVO from Sprint also. Isn't it great we have so many Android options?
Are you thinking about pulling the plug on purchasing the Epic 4G from Sprint? If so you might want to check out Amazon first. With a new 2-year contract sign up, you can get the phone for $199.99 and that is without having to send off and wait for any rebates.
