Another one will soon bite the dust. After 6 years of operation and over 5 million users, the notebook app and service Springpad will be shutting down on June 25, ceasing all its operations, including the syncing and storage of online user data.
Evernote may be one of the most popular digital note-taking service around, but it is definitely not the only one, nor is it always the best. In some quarters and scenarios, it faces some very tough competition from Springpad. That competition might have become even tougher with the introduction of customized notebooks in the Springpad app for Android and the Web.
September has so far been a very busy month, with device and product announcements going on left and right. Developers have apparently also been quite the productive bunch as new versions of some of our favorite Android apps start rolling out.
The Springpad app has been around for some time now, in fact, it was way back in February of 2011 when they announced they had topped the 1 million user milestone. Amount of users aside though, the folks at Springpad have returned with another announcement that should make another group of users happy -- those with an Android tablet.
