There is increasing evidence that Spotify is readying themselves for an IPO. A new report notes the streaming music service is lining up financial backing, which is usually a precursor to going public. Banks will underwrite a company’s IPO, and Spotify is said to be in discussions with several major financial houses.

Apple may be looking to bring iTunes to Android. According to a new report from Billboard, Apple is looking for ways to drive more revenue as sales of media slump. The Cupertino company is also looking to create a music service to rival the likes of Pandora and Spotify, according to the same report.

Spotify purchases Echo Nest, a music data company their competitors use

Spotify has made an acquisition, snatching up Echo Nest for an undisclosed amount. The company powers recommendations and playlists for a wide variety of media firms, including Spotify competitors like iHeartRadio, Beats Music, and Rdio. They also have a hand in more mainstream content suggestions, though Spotify doesn’t hint any many changes taking place.

Spotify seems to be lining up an IPO, with a recent job opening hinting to an upcoming stock offering. In hiring an ‘External Reporting Specialist’, Spotify seems to be getting their ducks in a row for going public. The job description seems to tip their cap as well.

Spotify adds Led Zeppelin to streaming ranks

The one and only Led Zeppelin has been added to the extensive libraries of Spotify, allowing in a variety of albums over the next month. Starting today - December 11th, 2013, Led Zeppelin albums will begin to be ushered in with "Led Zeppelin" and "Led Zeppelin II", both from 1969. After that it's December 12th with the release of III and the untitled 4th album, these originally released in 1970 and 1971.
