The wildly popular song search and recognition app SoundHound has received a nice little update this afternoon that should make many users happy. Today the developers have issued a quick update that promises to make searching and song recognition even faster. They've also added a few new features and improved on the layout. Now it's the fastest and best looking song matching app for Android.

Forget Shazam. Have you tried SoundHound yet? I've been using it instead of Shazam for well over a year for its top notch user interface, options, lyrics, and outright faster music recognition. Today however they just made their app even better by updating to their all new version 5.0 that brings tons of changes. SoundHound offers usage metrics for the first time

Last month SoundHound launched a new update for its Android app that brought the app some fixes and a nice new feature. The new feature was the inclusion of LiveLyrics to the mix. At the time, I wondered how many people actually used SoundHound and the company has now offered up some usage stats. This is the first time that SoundHound has offered any insight into how used its app is on the iPhone and Android platform.

Occasionally when I'm not snagging one the free apps of the day from the Amazon App Store I check out the deals they have running. This week they are offering the popular music tagging service SoundHound Infinity for only $1.99 instead of the usual $4.99 price tag. The blazing fast music recognition capabilities of SoundHound make it a must have application and ever since I got it free from Amazon I've never used Shazam.
