Artists inspired by cities in limited edition Xperia Z3 series

If you're a bit bored with the original casing of your Xperia Z3 devices, the folks over at Sony have a solution for you (but probably if you live in Germany). They commissioned 3 artists to create artworks to adorn the back casings of the Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, and the Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet, inspired by three major cities. However, these are very limited editions and will only be available in Berlin.

Workaround allows DRM functions on unlocked Sony Xperia devices

There are a lot of good reasons for you to unlock the bootloader of your Sony Xperia device, as there are a lot of cool aftermarket software and stuff out there that will make your cool Xperia dievice even cooler. But the downside to an unlocked bootloader is when you lose the imaging features that require DRM authentication – including the X-Reality image enhancement engine, the audio noise cancelling feature, and the BIONZ image enhancement engine among others.

Snail Games to release Obox gaming console at CES 2015

You’ve seen it before, and you’re likely to see it again – whatever the big manufacturers can do, China can do as well. Snail Games, an online gaming outfit based in China is planning to take on Sony and Microsoft by putting out an Android gaming console called Obox Online, scheduled to be launched at CES 2015 in Las Vegas just a few weeks from now.

Vaio working on Android handsets, to compete with former parent Sony

Sony's very own Vaio laptop unit will soon be a rival of the mother company as the latter will join the mobile industry and introduce smartphones. This means Sony and Vaio will be competing in the same arena. The former laptop brand of the Japanese manufacturer is currently working with mobile carrier Japan Communications to offer its first smartphone in the country early in 2015. As the two brands go head to head, we'll see who is the best in making Android phones.

Sony rumored to launch 12+ inch tablet by early 2015

The first half of 2015 is expected to bring out a lot of new gadgets from OEMs, particularly large tablets from Samsung and Apple, if reports are to be believed. Another rumored new tablet to come out will be from Sony, and it will become their largest one so far. It is believed that the new device has already gone into production in order to come out the same time as the other rumored tablets.

Leak shows an insanely powerful Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra

Of course, we can say right off the bat that as with all leaks, it will be difficult to verify if this is indeed true – that is the nature of all leaks. But the purported specs of the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra has just leaked and it’s showing us an insanely robust tablet, something that would blow away current competition. But is it in the “too good to be true” category?

Sony adds AOSP support to all 2014 Qualcomm-based Xperia units

Sony is one of those manufacturers who seem to have found a groove in balancing their support for after-market software for their devices and continuing to encourage those who are part of the community who tweak the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) for their Sony devices. Because of this commitment, Sony has even now made AOSP support official for all Qualcomm-based Xperia devices released in 2014. Pretty nifty.

Xperia E4 pictures and specs hit the web

The first images of an unreleased Sony Xperia smartphone have leaked on the internet. The device is said to be the Xperia E4 and a handful of images show some details of the smartphone. The device in the image is model number E2105, tipped to be a single SIM version of the smartphone.
