Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY

Verizon 2011 Roadmap Leaks, Droid Charge, Xperia PLAY, Droid Incredible 2, Droid X 2, and Samsung Galaxy S II

Every once in a good while something lovely like this comes along and lets us know when basically everything in the world will be coming out. There's been a list of devices released that was more than likely sent out to Verizon stores with the intent being that they'd know in advance what to prep their employees for, spreading info sheets according to when each device will be released. What we've got here is a wave of Android, to be sure. Everything your robotic heart could possibly desire, coming soon!

Hot Games for Xperia PLAY Launch Rundown

We were reeling when we saw the big fat list of Xperia PLAY optimized games that CNET Asia had prepared a couple of days ago. We were so excited, in fact, that our initial browsing of said list yielded only one overwhelming notion: there aren't that many new things here. How heart-wrenching! Then we got wise. There are some gems in there, starting with the second in a series of Dungeon Defenders.

O2 Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play delayed after firmware bugs found

UK carrier O2 has confirmed that the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play will be delayed, after having "found some bugs in the software that, if they’re not fixed, means customers won’t have a great experience." According to Stuart Hibberd, head of O2's testing team, by the time Sony Ericsson has tweaked the firmware, the gaming smartphone will have missed its previously announced April 1 launch date. What's unclear is whether the same bugs will impact other carriers offering the XPERIA Play. O2 doesn't specify what, exactly, the issues are, but it does claim they're general flaws in the XPERIA Play's firmware rather than something to do with a particular build for the O2 network. For more on the XPERIA Play, check out our hands-on from CTIA 2011 last week. [Thanks Toby!]

Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Hands-On [CTIA 2011]

We got another opportunity to take a look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Android gaming phone whilst at a Verizon event in Orlando during CTIA 2011. It was here that we finally got both an extended look at the device as well as an adequate amount of time to make judgements on its form and content. In the video below you're going to see a presentation made by a Verizon representative who shows us a top-down look at the device including a demo of several games that we're very much looking forward to trying out.

Android’s Got Talent! Beats Dancing with the Stars [Video]

Well, it looks like the little green robot gets around. Our best friend here at AC, the Android Mascot has done it again. This time it is in the form of a dancing robot. I must say though, watch the full video as this Android has some mad skillz. Dances in sync with the beat and everything. Not to mention having those moves while in a suit can't be easy. This might remind you guys of the Giorgio Armani Android hitting the Catwalk.

Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Confirmed as Former Nexus phone for Gingerbread

Whilst chatting at a Verizon event last night, we again heard, this time direct from a Sony Ericsson repreentative, that the reason the Xperia PLAY is able to launch with Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread is that this "PlayStation Phone" was once in the running to be Google's hero phone. This spot as Gingerbread model has since been usurped by the Nexus S, but didn't leave Sony Ericsson empty-handed. In fact, Google didn't leave Sony Ericsson at all, working with them from start to finish on a phone that's as optimized for Android a piece of hardware are you're ever going to find.*

Sony Ericsson Plans to Take Over North America with 9 Android Phones Inside 2011

No joke, via the same source we spoke to on the importance of the Xperia PLAY, Sony Ericsson doesn't plan on stopping with that headliner, no way! Sony plans on taking out all oncomers in the coming year with not one flagship phone, but 9 utterly amazing Android phones (which we, of course, have no further info on.) This tidbit of information is built on a talk we had with a source quite familiar with the inner workings of Sony Ericsson, a source who indeed did confirm not only Sony's plan to release this barrage of Android phones throughout 2011, but more specifically the Xperia PLAY by the end of this quarter.
