Sony Ericsson XPERIA mini pro on sale now

Sony Ericsson's XPERIA mini pro has gone on sale in the UK, with carrier Vodafone offering the diminutive Android smartphone from free on new two year agreements from £20.50 ($34) per month. Packing a 3-inch touchscreen, slide-out physical keyboard and a 5-megapixel camera with video recording support, the mini pro is being positioned as Sony Ericsson's take on the Facebook Phone concept, thanks to its Facebook Inside XPERIA support. That boosts the integration of the social network throughout Sony Ericsson's customized Gingerbread build, with Facebook events automatically showing up in the calendar, the ability to "Like" music you're playing or other things directly from the relevant app, and automatic gallery sync complete with comments. Obviously there's the usual Android Market support as well, all in a compact 92 x 53 x 18 mm chassis. Meanwhile, the XPERIA mini pro is already available unlocked and SIM-free from retailers like Clove, priced at around £246 ($405) including tax. More details on the smartphone in our hands-on report. Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro Hits the FCC

A powerful phone in a small package is what Sony Ericsson is doing with the Xperia Mini Pro. This little phone has almost all the features you'd want in a quality smartphone yet it is small and even has a QWERTY keyboard. It has a 2.8" screen, a front facing camera and even a 1 Ghz CPU yet the entire phone is still tiny. It just hit the FCC so it shouldn't be long now.

Facebook inside Xperia Actually Kind of Cool

You may already know that we've taken a look at Sony Ericsson's newest effort: XPERIA mini and XPERIA mini pro, both essentially the same device with the push-out keyboard sitting below the pro. Both of these devices feature what Facebook and Sony Ericsson are calling "Facebook inside Xperia," an integration of the social networking site into the basic everyday functions of the phone. Turns out it's pretty neat!

We're live at a lovely Sony Ericsson event via our sister-site SlashGear in foggy-ol-England where we're being allowed to peek at both the XPERIA mini and the XPERIA mini pro, both of which are planned for release in August of 2011. These phones are essentially the same in specifications save for the full QWERTY keyboard included on the pro. These devices may be tiny, but they're not the itty bitty fishes that physical smallness of the past would have us believe they'd be - 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chips'll do that.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA mini and XPERIA mini pro Officially Announced

Our good pals at Sony Ericsson have just delivered the goods on the XPERIA mini and mini pro, a couple of devices that they say are the smallest HD smartphones in the world. What on earth does that mean? Let's talk about it below. Meanwhile, these devices both have Android 2.3 Gingerbread running on them, can grab video at 720p, and use Sony’s BRAVIA engine along with Sony Ericsson’s custom UI. The big difference between then is that the XPERIA mini is a touchscreen-only device while the mini pro includes a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard for your tapping enjoyment.
