Google+ SMS support added in 41 countries

Who loves Google+ and thinks it's the best social network? In case you guys didn't know, you can post updates and respond to comments using SMS just like Facebook and others offer. The only problem here is this feature was limited to the US and parts of India. Today Google has announced this feature is now available in 41 new countries. You can now update your social status no matter where you are with a quick text message.

Google+ updated for Android with hashtags and web snippets

Google's social network Google+ has been getting tons of attention lately from the team at Mountain View. The web interface was completely overhauled this week with a fresh new look and improved features, and today they've pushed an update for the Android app bringing some awesome web features to mobile. The big one for me is web snippets. You know -- the extra information shown when you share a story or a link.

Digg founder Kevin Rose and team hired by Google

Earlier this week we heard reports that Google might be looking to snatch up a few new employees to help out with their social side of things. The rumors suggested that Digg founder Rose, and the staff of Milk have been hired by Google. Today on Google+ Kevin Rose himself has confirmed the rumors and is excited about what the future holds.

Sonar: Local social networking lands for Android

The popular local and location based social networking application Sonar is finally available for Android today in a limited beta. Sonar pulls data from publicly available profiles from Foursquare, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook and brings it all into a single application. It sounds a little scary I know, but we are hearing great things about this new social experience.

Official Android Developers now on Google+

Android and Google just keep getting more and more social. After making an official Twitter and Google+ page late last year they are back and now have an official social page for all things Android Development. The Android dev team now has a dedicated social space for developers to meet, share, learn, and connect with one another.

President Obama to appear on Google+ for post State of the Union Interview

Who wants to see President Obama live on a Google+ hangout? If you do then next week you are in luck because Obama will be doing exactly that. After trying to be more "social" the White House made a Google+ account last week. I was confused when I saw it but now it appears that the White House will be holding a post State of the Union interview with the President live with a Google+ Hangout.

Google+ photo tagging now features automatic facial recognition

Google's social network site just keeps getting better and better these days. Now I know when you read automatic facial recognition you feel like John Connor from Terminator might hunt you down and recognize your face but this new system is completely opt-in. This feature is being called "Find My Face" and will make photo tagging even easier in Google+ land.
