Create videos for Instagram with new Magisto update

Ever since short (and we mean really short) videos started becoming popular on social media, there has been a glut of apps catering to this need to post 15-second “masterpieces” online. Vine, Instagram, and even Facebook have gotten in on the action. The popular video editor and creator Magisto has joined the fray as their latest update now allows you to create videos that can be posted on image sharing giant Instagram.

Facebook app testing opening links in built-in browser

Most people who are on Facebook have a love-hate relationship with the hugely popular social network, particularly when it comes to rolling out new features. What the social media giant does is test out new features on a random subset of users before slowly rolling it out to the public. So if you’re one of the “lucky” ones to run into this new functionality on the Android app, you’ll notice that opening links within now leads you to a built-in web browser rather than your smartphone’s default browser.

Cooliris puts all your photos in your hands

With a plethora of social networking sites, you're bound to have hundreds of photos scattered all over. And while there are numerous gallery apps available on Android, none probably gathers all, and we mean all, of them in a single place like Cooliris.

Timehop app travels back in time to relive your past

Lifelogging seems to be becoming a trend, but what if you just wanted to go back to the time before lifelogging was even a thing? What if you wanted to remember what you were doing on this exact date last year? Timehop is an app that does just that for you, provided you have the necessary photos and social networks, of course.

HTC adding Facebook button to social networking phone?

HTC is reportedly readying a new Android smartphone with in-depth Facebook integration, expected to make its debut at MWC 2011 next Tuesday. According to the FT's sources, the unnamed smartphone will not be Facebook branded, but will instead have a dedicated Facebook button to act as a shortcut to the social network's services. The rumor follows talk yesterday of an INQ Facebook device, though HTC isn't confirming any of the speculation at this stage. Android Community will be on hand at the HTC press conference next week, so whatever Facebook-flavored loveliness is announced, you know you'll see it here. [via SlashGear]

Facebook for Android updated

The Android Facebook app hasn't exactly proved inspiring in comparison to the company's iPhone version, but there are signs that the company is waking up to the popularity of the Google platform.  Overnight the app has been updated, with more in-app functionality rather than kicking users out to the mobile website version in the Android browser. That functionality includes video playback, the ability to view and RSVP for events, respond to friend requests without leaving the app, and an updated home page; the latter gets a draggable notifications drawer, a photo reel for easy viewing of friends' photos and videos, and the ability to post a status update or search for friends with just one click.  Facebook for Android is available in the Android Market.
