Disney turns sights toward Star Wars mobile and social games

By now, you've probably heard that Disney has purchased Lucasfilm, whether you learned that through news outlets or Facebook friends who are complaining that Disney will ruin the Star Wars franchise (it isn't going to, so stop worrying). While we're sure that Disney is going put the Star Wars IP to good use, the company isn't looking to make many more Star Wars console games. Instead, Disney CEO Robert Iger says the company will probably focus on Star Wars mobile and social titles moving forward.

Zynga internal memo confirms layoffs, closures

The days of pulling out your phone and indulging in a moment of Words with Friends or Draw Something might be coming to an end. Earlier today, Zynga workers were greeted with a notice that they had two hours to pack up and get out. Now an internal email by the company's CEO Mark Pincus confirms that the company plans to cut 5% of its workforce and close the Boston studio.

Console sleeper hit No More Heroes coming to Android

As smartphones get more and more powerful, it's genuinely amazing the kind of visuals and game play they can pump out. Last week we reviewed SHADOWGUN, this morning it broke that Riptide GP is coming soon, and now we have news of Suda 51's inventive console game No More Heroes will be getting an Android version. The original will be altered into what the developer calls a "social assassination battle" game. Whatever that means.

PapayaMobile bills itself as the leading social gaming network for Android and the company has announced a milestone. Since the beginning of 2011, the company has experienced massive growth with Android users with over 940% growth. This week the company announced that it has now passed 25 million users and the network is continuing its growth. The company also offered up more details on its growth and network.

Games for Google+: Angry Birds and more coming soon

Whoa, out of no where today Google has just announced Games for Google+ and already the first to tip the chart is the all mighty Angry Birds. This is one of the next big steps for Google to integrate another level of socialization into Google+ to better compete with the likes of Facebook. From Angry Birds, Decks of Cards, Diamand Dash and more. These will all be available soon for Google+.
