Qualcomm and others won’t be launching 8-core processors this year

The arms and spec race on mobile devices, especially Android, has really been supercharged lately and is almost getting out of hand. In all honesty does your smartphone really need an Octa-core processor to keep Facebook and YouTube running smooth? The answer would be a no. The upcoming next generation quad-core chipset from NVIDIA has apparently leaked in a set of slides today, confirming the Tegra 4 processor along with some mighty impressive specs. The leaked slide details the SoC as "Wayne" and shows a significant increase in graphics cores, USB 3.0 support, 28nm processor fabrication for more efficiency, and much much more. Intel to acquire NVIDIA according to crazy rumors

In what sounds like one of the crazier rumors we've heard in a long, long time, the folks from Intel might be preparing to acquire NVIDIA. The mobile processing market is really getting competitive as of late and this could give Intel the edge they so badly need. What's even crazier is the talk that Intel will make a switch at CEO and have NVIDIA's own take charge of the entire ship.
