Snapdragon 800 mass production begins in May

QUALCOMM has its SoCs inside some of the most popular Android devices on the market. Those devices include smartphone such as the GALAXY S 4 and HTC One among others. QUALCOMM's most popular SoC right now is the Snapdragon 600. The company is gearing up for mass production of its next-generation SoC.

We often see benchmark filings for handsets that are expected, or for those that happened to have been previously rumored. As of today however we have one that appears to be somewhat of a mystery device. The handset is shown as the LG D801 and so far, we have yet to see any images. In fact, aside from a few small details coming from the filing, the LG D801 is mostly a mystery. That said, based on what we have seen -- it is a mystery we are interested in seeing the outcome of.

Qualcomm details ‘always-on’ Snapdragon voice activation features

When Qualcomm announced their new Snapdragon 600 and 800 series processors earlier this year for mobile devices they left a few fancy features and details out of the picture. Today however the folks from Qualcomm are back in the news and are sharing information on multiple neat new features we'll be seeing in upcoming Snapdragon-powered device. Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and 200 processors unveiled

Qualcomm previously announced the Snapdragon 800 and 600 series processors and as of today, they have done the same for the Snapdragon 400 and 200 series processors. This follows the tiered structure announced by Qualcomm where the Snapdragon series would have the 800 and 600 series processors aimed at high-end devices and tablets and the 400 and 200 series processors aimed at the mid- and entry-level devices.

Qualcomm details Quick Charge 2.0 to power devices 75% faster

We all want to spend less time by a wall outlet at the airport and more time browsing Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, ESPN, or whatever else we all do on our smartphones. Last week we reported on a feature called Quick Charge 1.0 from Qualcomm, but today they've introduced 2.0 to take things up a notch. Quick Charge has been around for some time, only they just detailed it last week, now today they're releasing details on what will make their new Snapdragon 800 series the best chip yet.

Qualcomm’s new ‘Born Mobile’ ad series makes the bus stop fun again

For those that saw Qualcomm's Born Mobile keynote at CES this year, you probably have a good idea at what is coming below. For those who didn't, get ready to see the chip maker pull out all the stops. Basically the folks from Qualcomm have released a series of awesome videos from a local bus stop, showing that this mobile generation will head to a webpage while waiting for the bus. What comes after that will surprise you all.

YotaPhone dual-screen smartphone hands-on

Late last year the Russian company Yota announced a rather intriguing new smartphone called the YotaPhone. As I'm sure many of you are aware, this Android 4.1 Jelly Bean handset sports two displays. The front being a 4.3-inch 720p LCD display, and the rear of the device enjoys a 4.3-inch E-ink screen. It's a neat concept and we were able to enjoy some time with a prototype unit earlier today and we came away rather impressed.
