This week at CES we've been running around like mad-men trying to get a little hands on time with just about everything. Today we had a few minutes to check out multiple new things from Qualcomm, one in particular is the Snapdragon GameCommand application. Just recently announced by Qualcomm this app will highlight games and apps that can take advantage of all the potential inside Snapdragon powered devices.

Got a Snapdragon processor and a penchant for mobile gaming? Then you'll want to check the Android Market on January 10th, just as the Consumer Electronics Show gets in to full swing at Las Vegas. The Qualcomm-backed GamesCommand store will feature games specifically designed and enhanced for the company's Snapdragon family of SoC's. Over 100 games will be launched on the service initially.

Quick: what's the system-on-a -chip that's on the top of everyone's mind right now? If you answered the Nvidia Tegra 3, Qualcomm Vice President Rob Chandhok has got a bone to pick with you. Speaking at a pre-CES press conference, the VP of Software Strategy called Nvidia's processor a "single use product", comparing it poorly to Qualcomm's own Snapdragon line of processors. Chandhok went on to say that Snapdragon will be featured in hundreds of devices.

Qualcomm and their Snapdragon processors are in more Android devices than we can count and they aren't wasting anytime now that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is out in the wild. We've seen development devices from them in the past like the 1.5 GHz MDP phone (Mobile Development Platform) and now they are teasing their new Snapdragon MSM8960 that will be known as the Snapdragon S4 on an Ice Cream Sandwich powered tablet.

Qualcomm announces its own Snapdragon game store
As Android's gaming prowess (or at lest the hardware it requires) becomes more and more evident, Qualcomm has decided they want to highlight the potential of their Snapdragon series of mobile processors. To that end, they've announced Snapdragon GamesCommand, a showcase app filled with "console-quality" and casual games exclusively for Snapdragon devices. Like Nvidia's Tegra Zone, at least some of the games in GamesCommand will not appear anywhere else - those with other hardware are out of luck.

Yes you read the title right, that says 100% bug powered smartphone and that is exactly what we have. Today Qualcomm has presented us with the "Bug Circus Generator" where they've neatly gathered a few speedy Praying Mantis and tossed them on unicycles and a Tarantula on a treadmill and rigged them to generate tiny amounts of electricity. What do you get? A 100% bug powered smartphone thanks to the extremely efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.

Everyone had to know that NVIDIA wasn't the only one preparing quad-core processors for the mobile markets. We have seen a few reports from Qualcomm in the past and even reported on the next-gen quad-cores from Qualcomm back in August. With most chipset makers Qualcomm included behind NVIDIA with the dual-cores we've been wondering how the next step would look.

They are moving to a simple and easy to understand outline for the naming of current and upcoming products to keep everything easier to understand. They also showed a few specs of what we can expect to see in the future and things sure are looking good, can you say quad-core!
