LG G3 Cat. 6 to launch in Korea with Snapdragon 805

LG seems to now also be doing the LTE-A variant dance like its arch rival. Instead of vesting its latest flagship with the latest and greatest specs, including an LTE Category 6 compatible modem, LG has left the G3 a bit wanting in that area and instead will be launching a different model in its home country just for this very purpose.

Galaxy Note 4 Exynos proc faster vs. Snapdragon variant

Seems like only yesterday when we wrote about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 appearing in AnTuTu’s benchmark database – check that, it was 3 days ago. The benchmarking outfit is at it again, testing the two rumored processors for the Galaxy Note 4’s two upcoming variants – the Snapdragon 805 for the US version and the Exynos 5433 for the international version. The results are enough to raise an eyebrow at, putting the Samsung-made Exynos chip above Qualcomm’s premier processor.

It was back in November of 2013 when we learned the Snapdragon 805 "Ultra UD" processor would be heading to devices in 2014. Well, it looks like the first of these devices will be arriving in April. But before anyone gets super excited here -- this first device is going to be one aimed at developers. We've seen similar reference tablets from Qualcomm in the past, and this time around we are seeing the Snapdragon 805 Mobile Development Platform Tablet (MDP/T).

Proving that they're still kings of sound, Dolby has promised to bring its brand new Atmos sound technology to smartphones and tablets as early as the end of this year. 128-bit or 64-bit? Qualcomm and ARM see things differently

Barely into 64-bit architecture, a new report suggests that ARM is working on 128-bit technology for release in 2014. The folks at ARM roundly dispute that claim, noting that the 64-bit chipsets currently entering the market are more than adequate. Their competition may not agree.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 may be the high-end processor mobile users are looking to have power their handset at the moment, however a new top of the line has been announced this morning. Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon 805 "Ultra HD" processor which will feature the an Adreno 420 GPU and is described as being the "first mobile processor to offer system-level Ultra HD support."
