Skyfire acquired by Opera
While there are plenty of alternative browsers available for Android users to pick from, it looks as if two of those have recently gotten together. Coming by way of an Opera issued press release, they have announced the acquisition of Skyfire. Based on details provided, Opera will be looking towards Skyfire's video optimization and smartphone monetization products.

Skyfire for Android Updated
The popular Skyfire browser for Android has just been updated to 3.0.1, bringing along with it some new features. It's a relatively minor but brings some stability fixes and a few much needed improvements. One of the changes in this update is the ability to move the application to your SD card to save phone memory. With this version of Skyfire you can also upload files directly from your browser, however, these two features are only available if you're running Android 2.2 or 2.3. Downloads will now happen in the background and, when finished, a notification will pop up in the system tray similar to how Market downloads are downloaded. Skyfire 3.0 has just launched and if you are a big fan of the original app, the new one has a few new features you will really like. This is the app that was so popular with iPhone users for bringing Flash support. Android users already had Flash so that wasn't a big deal.
