Apple claiming Google Now infringes on Siri patents

We had known Apple was looking to include the GALAXY S 4 in the patent suit with Samsung. As of today however, it looks like Apple has filed a motion with the courts to include both the GALAXY S 4 and Google Now. Specifically, Apple is claiming patent infringement for a total of seven patents -- five of which deal with the GALAXY S 4 and two of which deal with Google Now.

Amazon smartphone rumors fire up with reports of Siri-like app purchase

We've heard our fair share of reports and rumors suggesting the folks from Amazon are planning a smartphone, but they float around for a few days then fade away. After reports in January of Amazon buying IVONA, a speech recognition company, we are back today with something similar. Reports have surfaced claiming Amazon just purchased the popular Siri-like app and company EVI for roughly $26 million.

Apple users have Siri and Android users have Google Now. That is just the way it goes now, however once upon a time, it looked as if Siri was going to be the assistant app for some Android users. Not to mention, some may not even be aware, but before Apple launched Siri as a feature of the iPhone -- Siri was an app for the iPhone and it available by way of the iOS App Store. And not to try and make any iPhone users feel bad about having Siri, once a time Siri was quite a bit more capable.

Who doesn't love patent trolls who exist for the sole purpose of suing companies for an alleged slight on some patent that they have no intention of using? This time, Accredited Transcription Corp (ATC), the company in question, is coming after Google's Voice Recognition and Apple's Siri in regards to US patent 6,298,326.

Google Now voice search heads to iPhone

Google's extremely impressive voice search feature, Google Now, that was revamped and released with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is headed to iOS - wait what? Yup, you read that title right. HTC teases upcoming S-Voice and Siri rival

It looks like HTC has been having some fun this afternoon at the expense of blogs and HTC Android fans everywhere. Tossing up a picture on their official Twitter teasing an upcoming S-Voice and Siri rival voice assistant program -- only for dogs. Everyone quickly jumped on it thinking the dog part was just a cover but yes, this was indeed fake.

Google Assistant getting accelerated development

Ever since Siri for iOS was first announced we've seen countless similar apps arrive on the Google Play Store. Google themselves have even had voice actions long before Siri was even around, only in a much different manor. Since then we've heard various reports that Google is working on their own service called Google Assistant -- also known as Project Majel -- and apparently the development has just been fast-tracked.
