Samsung releases full teaser for upcoming Gear S2 smartwatch

At the end of last week’s launch of Samsung’s new phablets, they pulled off a kind of “wait, there’s one more thing” moment when they revealed the teaser video for their next smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S2. Obviously since it’s a teaser, not much was revealed, aside from the fact that it’s the OEMs first round smartwatch and that it has a more vibrant display than previous offerings. It also looks serious in taking on rivals Apple Watch and the likes.

Android Wear for Samsung Gear S project now started at XDA

If you’re an owner of one of Samsung’s first curved display devices, a wearable called Samsung Gear S, you might have wondered how it would be to have Android Wear installed on the smartwatch. You see, if you didn’t realize it, the Samsung Gear S smartwatch runs on the proprietary Tizen platform. We won’t try to say anything bad about that, but we can all agree that Android Wear is relatively more universal and as such will have more apps you can use.

Someone got Android Wear (kinda) running on Tizen smartwatches

While Tizen seems to be a pretty decent smartwatch platform, compared to Android Wear, it still seems light years away. And it looks like Samsung, aside from its Gear Live, has no intention of coming out further with wearables that will run on Google's platform and will stick it out with their own. But a developer doesn't want to give up, taking four long months to try and port Android Wear into the Samsung Gear 2, and it looks like finally, he has succeeded.

Samsung to reportedly release their first round-faced smartwatch

Round-faced smartwatches used to be a big deal, if only because there were only very few in the market. Back then it was just the LG G Watch R and the Moto 360 competing in the Android Wear market. But now there are other players like Huawei and LG has released other models as well, trying to get a piece of the pie and attracting those who would like a wearable that looked like a normal watch but had the functionality of a gadget.

Samsung Gear S coming to American mobile carriers

We’ve covered the Samsung Gear S from the time it was leaked to its announcement at the IFA 2014 in Berlin – and this is one unique wearable that has its own SIM card and hence, its own data connection. It’s not overly reliant on an Android smartphone for usage, although you can use it with that as well. Good news from Samsung is, starting early November, the Samsung Gear S will be available with major US mobile carriers.

Endomondo gets compatible with Android Wear, Samsung Gear S

Popular sports and lifestyle tracking app Endomondo is now integrated with wearable platform Android Wear and its devices, as well as the Tizen-run Samsung Gear S. This means you can now use the app on your LG G Watch, G Watch R, Moto 360, Samsung Gear Live, ASUS Zenwatch, and the Sony Smartwatch 3, the wearable devices that are using Android Wear. The Sports Tracker app in particular now works well with these devices, letting you have access to stats and data while you do your workout.

Samsung Gear S smartwatch gets full Opera Mini browser

If you ever looked down at your wrist and wished that your smartwatch could surf the web, Opera has a new browser for you. The new browser is a full-web browser that is designed specifically to run on the Samsung Gear S smartwatch running Tizen. The browser is a version of Opera Mini.

Samsung Gear S arriving this fall in the United States

The latest Samsung wearable will be available in the U.S. this fall but AT&T will add the Samsung Gear S to its current lineup ahead of other carriers. The new smartwatch from Samsung will be ready by September 26, Friday, courtesy of AT&T. The wearable runs its own Tizen wearable OS and comes complete with a curved display, voice support, messaging, and data connectivity.

Samsung looking at payment process through smartwatches

South Korean gadget giant Samsung is reportedly looking at how they can incorporate simple payment functions to the next wearable devices – smartwatches, more specifically. The target is the Mobile World Congress slated for early in 2015, where by that time, Samsung is expected to launch a payments-enabled smartwatch.

Samsung, Diesel Black Gold collaborate for Gear S accessories

Smartwatches are not just for functionality, but apparently, it can also serve as a fashion accessory. Samsung has teamed up with fashion line Diesel Black Gold to create accessories for its brand new smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S. This will be part of the Spring/Summer 2015 show of the Diesel line which is headed by its creative director Andreas Melbostad.
