Samsung Galaxy S II

Classic devices get Android 5.1, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy S II

Two old warhorses are getting a taste of Lollipop these days – the Motorola Xoom, one of Motorola (and Verizon’s) first premium tablets, and the Samsung Galaxy S II, the smartphone that started global smartphone domination for Samsung. These devices are ancient by current standards and have no right to be running the latest and greatest Android version, but it is a testament to their robust hardware design and the commitment of aftermarket software developers that this is even possible.

Samsung Galaxy S II update to 4.1.2 Jelly Bean rolling out now

We've been getting mixed signals and reports regarding Samsung's still extremely popular yet aging Galaxy S II smartphone. While they've been quick with updates to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and beyond, the Galaxy S II is still waiting to enjoy 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google Now, and everything else we love about the latest version of Android. However it looks like the rollout is back on track for Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S II Jelly Bean updated delayed til February

It looks like official updates for Samsung's highly popular Galaxy S II to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean have been delayed. We can't technically call it delayed since it wasn't announced, but previous reports had them coming before the end of the year and then delayed into early 2013. Back in December we mentioned they'd arrive in early 2013, and now reports have surfaced claiming the updates will start in February.
