Samsung Galaxy Note

Peter the elephant loves the Samsung Galaxy Note – naturally

When Samsung introduced the Galaxy Note way back in September of 2011, a lot of consumers dismissed it, saying that it was just too big for their hands. Samsung seems to have found at least one customer for whom small hands are definitely not a problem. Meet Peter the elephant, the latest and certainly greatest fan of Samsung's phablet. This guy's dexterous snozz might be a little much for more standard smartphones to handle, but Peter takes to music and photo apps on the Note like nobody's business.

Samsung pushes Galaxy Note ICS update to Q2, tosses in S-Pen “Premium Suite”

Well Galaxy Note owners, it looks like you're going to have a slightly longer wait than you'd hoped to get Ice Cream Sandwich running on your phabulous phablets. Samsung's Korean division announced that they're delaying the release of the official Android 4.0 release for the Galaxy Note to sometime in the second quarter, putting it somewhere between a few weeks and three months away from now. This sort of thing isn't really surprising given Samsung's track record, though the relatively timely update of the Galaxy S II had us hoping that ICS would be coming to the Note sooner rather than later.

Users want larger smartphone displays, says obvious analyst

Android users tend to like big, big displays on their phones. A previous study found that the median size for an Android handset was between 4.0 and 4.3 inches diagonally, and of course more and more devices are coming out with 5-inch and larger screens, a figure that was downright laughable just a few years ago. It looks like Android manufacturers ain't just whistlin' Dixie. According to a report from Strategy Analytics, 9 out of 10 people gravitate towards a phone with a bigger screen than their current one when buying a new model.

AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy Note LTE modded for T-Mobile 4G

Ah, here's a familiar tune. Cross-network phone mods in the United States have declined somewhat since the various carriers' data bands have become so different, it's still a popular pastime - though mostly among iPhone users who want a little T-Mobile freedom. That practice has now spread to the much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note, which recently had an LTE-flavored release on AT&T. Naturally this comes from XDA developers, via a user calling himself  tomin.fhl.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note gets 30 free Angry Birds Space levels

Angry Birds is nothing short of a sensation, and Samsung isn't above exploiting that fact to make their Galaxy Note superphone look that much better. On that note (ba-dum bum) they've announced a partnership with Rovio to bring 30 extra levels of Angry Birds Space to Galaxy Note owners when it launches on March 22nd. You hear that, Angry Birds fanatics? All you have to do to play 30 extra levels in a free game is to buy a $650 smartphone. Just hand over your money now.

Samsung has an “exciting special announcement” for SXSW on March 9th

Samsung Mobile recently sent out a press release letting us all know what events to expect from the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. The 'special announcement' will likely be the showing of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 rather than the much anticipated Galaxy S III. Reason being, is that the entire event accentuates the Galaxy Note throughout the press release; it would still hold true after the 10.1's announcement.
