Samsung files trademark for ‘Galaxy Note Edge’, hints at new tech?

It is understood that South Korean smartphone giant Samsung has filed a number of new trademarks with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), these are for new names including the “Galaxy Note Edge”, “Alterna”, and “Audition”. Now, all of you Samsung fans calm the heck down – this is not tantamount to an announcement of a new Galaxy Note device yet. But it looks like Samsung is at least making the name available for them to use.

Samsung to unveil Galaxy Note 4 on September 3 before IFA [UPDATE]

Those who are eagerly awaiting the official announcement of the new smartphones from Samsung would have to wait just a few more weeks as the OEM is expected to reveal them in Berlin this coming September 3, two days before the start of IFA 2014. The rumoured devices that will be launched are the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, the upgraded version of the current Galaxy Note 3, and the Samsung Galaxy Alpha (name not yet confirmed).

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 may include retinal scanner

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 may well be coming our way in September during the IFA 2014 in Berlin, and a specific tweet by @SamsungExynos – Samsung’s Twitter account for all things pertaining to their proprietary chipset and processor brand – has hinted that the next gen phablet may probably have a retinal scanner, or at the very least, security features that deals with the human eye. How many of those could there be?

Galaxy Note 4 Exynos proc faster vs. Snapdragon variant

Seems like only yesterday when we wrote about the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 appearing in AnTuTu’s benchmark database – check that, it was 3 days ago. The benchmarking outfit is at it again, testing the two rumored processors for the Galaxy Note 4’s two upcoming variants – the Snapdragon 805 for the US version and the Exynos 5433 for the international version. The results are enough to raise an eyebrow at, putting the Samsung-made Exynos chip above Qualcomm’s premier processor.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 makes appearance in AnTuTu database

Samsung has been very active in putting out its latest and greatest devices for its adoring market – the Samsung Galaxy S5 and its variants the S5 Active, the S5 K Zoom, and most recently the S5 LTE-A. One of those not yet released but anticipated for this year us the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which most industry watchers think will be released at the IFA 2014 consumer electronics trade show. September is still a long ways, so for now, let us be content with the details of two variants of the Galaxy Note 4 which showed up in the database of benchmarking app AnTuTu.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 shipments top 5 million

A recent International Data Corporation (IDC) report showed Q3 2013 to be a record breaking quarter in terms of smartphone shipments. In fact, the year-over-year showed a 38.8 percent growth. And as we have been seeing with these reports, Samsung has been topping the charts. This latest report even credited the recently Galaxy Note 3 launch as helping Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy Note 12.2 clears bluetooth certification

While we can't be certain that the Korean company is building a 12.2-inch tablet, leaked images earlier this month seem to suggest they're doing exactly that. Fast forward to today and we're seeing a similar device pass Bluetooth certification, which means we could be learning more about Samsung's tablet or Note aspirations sooner than we thought.
