Metal unibody phones Samsung Galaxy A3, A5 get official announcements

We’ve covered Samsung’s “A Series” pretty extensively before in terms of leaks and what to expect. We know that somehow – starting with the Samsung Galaxy Alpha – the South Korean gadget giant was out to prove naysayers wrong, that it can’t build a metal phone of note. Well, this is what we get for provoking Samsung – a whole new line of metallic phones, with the Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5 both slim enough to turn your heads.

Samsung site reveals full HD display, 64-bit proc for Galaxy A7

A couple of things we’ve already written about here – first, about the rumored Samsung Galaxy A7 which will be part of the Korean company’s metallic we’ll-prove-you-wrong A-series, and secondly about the Internet being full of people with nothing better to do than dig into websites’ source codes and user access profiles to get information. As per usual, the Internet proves us right on both counts.

Samsung Galaxy SM-A300H appears at FCC without 4G LTE

The announcement of Android 5.0, codenamed Lollipop, and the impending arrival of the Nexus 6, Nexus 9, and Nexus Player, has taken up much of our attention these days, enough to distract us from rumors about Samsung's "premium only in looks" Alpha family that is yet to materialize in any official manner. To seemingly remind us that it's still in the running, one of them, particularly the SM-A300H has made its presence known at FCC, but sadly it didn't bring along with it some 4G connectivity.

Samsung Galaxy A7 now rumored to have Full HD screen

Perhaps you've already had your fill of reports surrounding the premium-looking yet not so premium Samsung Galaxy A family the past few weeks. That said, however, most of the attention has been lavished only on the A3 (A300) and A5 (A500) models of the devices. This round, on the other hand, is dedicated to the still mysterious Galaxy A7, if only but a little. But worry not, because we still have one more rumor about the Galaxy A5 to go with it for good measure.

Aluminum unibody Samsung Galaxy A3, A5 leaked

We’ve been given the idea that Korean gadget giant Samsung is at least serious about dispelling the “myth” that it can’t make beautiful metal-bound phones. The Samsung Galaxy Alpha was the first in what now seems to be a whole line of phones with that premium metallic feel to it. The Samsung Galaxy A5 was the most recent one leaked, and another aluminum unibody phone now follows with the Samsung Galaxy A3.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha gets the iFixit teardown treatment

So we’ve been a bit disappointed with the specs of Samsung’s new “premium feel” device, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha – a device which marks the first time the Korean gadget giant has been willing to ditch plastic for a more “fruity” metal design. Maybe Samsung was doing an “anything you can do, I can do too” with Apple, hence a spec line that doesn’t really stack up to flagship level. Popular teardown specialists iFixit give the new metal-bound phone the full treatment.

Rumored Samsung Galaxy A series to have LTE connectivity

As we reported late last week, it's been leaked that Samsung will be launching three new phones in the Galaxy A series line, slightly lower-end, probably non-metal versions of the recently-launched Galaxy Alpha. Now, more details have reportedly surfaced, and if they are to be believed, all three smartphones will have LTE connectivity, a must-have now for devices, but also not something that lower-end phones usually tout.
