Rovio cuts mobile game prices for winter sale

If you've been eyeing an HD version of one of Rovio's games but didn't want to shell out full price, then you'll be pleased to know that the company has dropped the prices on all of its games in a new winter sale. Of course, you can get the standard, ad-supported versions for free, but for some HD goodness, Rovio is now only charging $1. That isn't bad for an HD game, so it's time to stock up.

Angry Birds turns 3, celebrates a Happy Birdday with 30 new levels

Rovio Mobile has rolled out the latest Angry Birds app update. And nicely done, this update has arrived just as the game turns three. Yup, it looks like Angry Birds fans have now been wasting time slinging birds for three years. More to the point here though, Angry Birds for Android has been updated to version 3.0.0 and along with the new (and rather appropriate) version number comes a Happy Birdday celebration with 30 new levels.

Makers of Cut the Rope announce next game called Pudding Monsters

Cut the Rope is easily one of the best causal games on mobile devices. It's right up there with Angry Birds, the kings of the casual mobile gaming scene. Since its release, Cut the Rope has racked up a staggering 250 million downloads across mobile platforms. ZeptoLab, the creators of the ultra-popular game, have finally announced its next game called Pudding Monsters. It will hit the market on December 20.

Angry Birds Star Wars available now on Google Play

The latest installment of Rovio's mega-hit Angry Birds franchise has hit Google Play. This time, it comes with a license from the world's most beloved sci-fi franchise. That's right, Angry Birds Star Wars is here, and you can grab it right this minute. As is usually the case, we expect this to shoot to the top of Google Play quickly, as it seems like Rovio has the Midas touch for mobile games.

Angry Birds Star Wars gameplay featured in latest trailer

We've seen a lot of trailers for Angry Birds Star Wars recently, but so far none of them have featured any actual gameplay. Instead of showing us what we'd really like to see, Rovio took famous clips from the movies and inserted its famous birds into them. Some of them were cute, others were silly, but now its time to cut out the funny business and get down to the nitty gritty: it's time for gameplay, baby!

Angry Birds Star Wars teaser shows you’re never too short to be a Stormtrooper

We have another Angry Birds Star Wars teaser to share with you today, and this one is a bit funnier than the last one we showed you. Again, this latest teaser doesn't show any gameplay footage, instead giving us another clip from the classic films. Last time, it was the scene from A New Hope where Han tells Luke and Obi-Wan about his famous Kessel run, whereas this time, we have Princess Leia asking about the stature of a curious-looking Stormtrooper.

New Angry Birds Star Wars teaser pays homage to Millennium Falcon

As a smuggler, Han Solo's talents can't be understated (except for that part with the carbonite, but let's not get into that). Han Solo's talents can only take him so far though - it's his ship, the Millennium Falcon, that does most of the work. A new teaser trailer for Angry Birds Star Wars gives the Millennium Falcon and Han Solo the respect they deserve, using one of Solo's famous lines from the films in the process.

Angry Birds gets Bad Piggies-inspired update

There are plenty of Angry Birds players out there who haven't yet moved onto Bad Piggies, Rovio's latest game, but the studio is trying its hardest to get those fans to pick up the new game. The latest Angry Birds update adds 15 new levels inspired by Bad Piggies, tasking the players with destroying various contraptions like the ones the pigs build in their own game. If you're not familiar with Bad Piggies yet, you will be by the time you're finished playing through the update.

Angry Birds Star Wars coming to Android November 8

Rovio seems to have the Midas touch when it comes to mobile games. They are at it again, and this time they are teaming up Lucasfilm for their next game. On November 8th, Rovio announced that it will release Angry Birds Star Wars to almost every mobile platform, including our beloved Android devices. According to Rovio, this game will feature gameplay similar to Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space, but with a Star Wars theme. Rovio believes that this is the best Angry Birds game they have ever made. In a line that someone had to say, Peter Vesterbacka, CMO of Rovio said, "The force is definitely strong with this one." Cheesy, but necessary. "People seem to instinctively know what to do when handed a lightsaber or a bird in a slingshot, so this is a natural combination," said Colum Slevin, Vice President and Head of Studio Operations for Lucasfilm. I did not know it was encoded in our DNA to shoot birds out of slingshots, but apparently that is the case. Joking aside, this game is going to sell like crazy. It seems like everything Rovio makes is an instant success, and we expect this to be no exception. Of course, Rovio has also revealed that there will plenty of other merchandise to go along with the game, so if you are looking for a Luke Skywalker Angry Bird plush toy, they will be available soon enough.
