Microsoft Office for Android tipped for a fall 2014 arrival

A look back at the topic of Microsoft Office for Android shows a long list of possible launch dates and an equally long list of launch delays. We did at one point see a series of leaked screenshots, however much of the focus seems to be on when the office suite will be arriving. On that note, this latest mention of Microsoft Office for Android talks of another potential release date.

Quickoffice app released for Google apps business users

Google has recently released a new version of the Quickoffice app into the Google Play Store. This one joins the Quickoffice Pro HD and Quickoffice Pro apps, which are already priced at $19.99 and $14.99 respectively. This new release is called Quickoffice Google Apps and is available for free. Before you run to download thinking Quickoffice is now available for free -- there is a catch.

Google acquires Quickoffice to expand mobile apps

Fresh off of the news yesterday that Google had acquired Meebo for their social services we've now just learned that today they've finalized another acquisition. Google has snatched up the popular QuickOffice suite. With Google Docs and Drive already running at full steam it appears that Google wants to expand their mobile and cloud office apps.

QuickOffice Pro and its tablet version QuickOffice Pro HD get updated to version 5, with a slew of improvements we covered earlier. Among the most important is support for Microsoft's often frustrating Office 2010 standard.
