Recently everyone has been announcing and posting up quarterly earning reports now that we are diving into 2012. Qualcomm, manufacturers of all things wireless, today has just done the same for the the first quarter fiscal 2012 results. They are happily announcing that their shares jumped, earnings were high, and they posted another record quarter with revenues. It’s safe to say all those smartphones and tablets powered by Qualcomm are selling — and selling well.

Now for Qualcomm their Q1 ended on December 25th 2011, so that is why you might be confused as most other companies have been posting their Q4 results. “This quarter,” said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm, has been “another record quarter with revenues, earnings and MSM shipments reaching all-time highs.” Just like mentioned above, their results are in and things are on the rise. Revenue has been increased 14% over the last quarter, and amazingly it’s also up 40% from this same time period last year. $4.7 Billion is no small number.

Revenues were around $4.7 billion as mentioned above, but their operational income sits around $1.55 billion — which is also up about 25% over last quarter, and last year. With most analysts expecting revenues around $4.5bn it’s safe to say Qualcomm is doing great, and was ahead of the expected results. Things sure seem to be looking good. Looking at the chart above you can clearly see the huge amounts of growth they’ve seen, especially with 3G/4G devices.

With a strong CES this year and most likely an equally impressive Mobile World Congress coming soon you can expect things to continue strong from Qualcomm. What does this mean for consumers or the average Android user? Well, nothing. It does show that one of the biggest processor and SoC (system on chip) providers in the world of mobile is doing great and show no signs of slowing down. Just wait until their quad-core devices start hitting the market and things will really get interesting.

Earlier this month we were able to get a first hand look at an impressive technology from Qualcomm called AllJoyn. What is AllJoyn you ask? A peer-to-peer proximity based gaming, streaming, and sharing technology between devices such as Android phones and tablets. This makes device-to-device communication easy and simple for games, music, and anything else you can think of. Check out all our hands-on videos from CES 2012 below.

What makes AllJoyn special for both users and developers alike is all the work is already done before we even get these games or apps on our devices. The AllJoyn platform makes it dead simple for developers to integrate this service into their apps while developing — and even slotting them into already widely available games or applications.

Then from there all the work is already done and we can enjoy peer-to-peer live action gaming, music sharing/streaming, and more all without any connecting or pairing by the end user — AllJoyn does it all for you over WiFi or Bluetooth. The video below will explain more, not to mention detail how.

AllJoyn on Namco’s Pacman Kart

Next up is a custom app designed specifically for AllJoyn called JamJoyn. This allows multiple devices the option to completely control and change music. One device is connected to the stereo but using AllJoyn multiple devices can access and control the music. Changing tracks, turning up the volume and more all with the peer-to-peer technology. I can see this causing problems with backseat DJ’s always switching the song on me, but could really be useful in my house.

The video demonstration below shows the HTC Thunderbolt (powered by Qualcomm of course) connected to a Jawbone Jambox playing music via JamJoyn. Then both the Thunderbolt, and the Nexus One beside it can both control the music. Pretty neat huh?

JamJoyn Music
/>

That isn’t all either. This same technology can be used for simple things such as drawing or Whiteboards. This could be particularly useful for educational settings both at home — or in the classroom. Being able to access and edit the same drawing board or whiteboard via AllJoyn. If I could add to the whiteboard in class without leaving my desk — that would be awesome. Take note of how this demonstration shows off how dead simple this really is, with no pairing or connecting needed by the end user. It’s seamless and all done inside the app.

WhiteBoard

Last but certainly not least we have one more demonstration (my personal favorite) called Fight Game: Heroes. This is another AllJoyn powered game that is actually running on two Qualcomm S4 developer tablets being played peer-to-peer over 4G LTE. We do have this streaming via HDMI to a larger TV for the demonstration for a better view.

Your humble narrator (me) on the right vs our good friend Chris Burns on the left battling it out boxing style. showing off peer-to-peer gaming on a few developer tablets I quickly get the jabs and kicks down and knock out my opponent in the first round. Winnah!

Fight Game: Heroes

We’ve seen this awesome technology from Qualcomm in the past but things are starting to finally take shape and show us just how impressive and useful this all can be for the world of mobile — especially for Android and the wide array of devices running on Qualcomm Snapdragon processors. Developers you can start thinking about what or how you want to use this technology now, and we’ll be sure to follow and update as we hear more from AllJoyn and Qualcomm.

This week at CES we’ve been running around like mad-men trying to get a little hands on time with just about everything. Today we had a few minutes to check out multiple new things from Qualcomm, one in particular is the Snapdragon GameCommand application. Just recently announced by Qualcomm this app will highlight games and apps that can take advantage of all the potential inside Snapdragon powered devices.

Qualcomm and their Snapdragon mobile processor (system on chip) is in a multitude of devices throughout the world and have been building a complete end to end system for processors for years. Qualcomm’s shift in focus with GameCommand is to help game and application developers create and optimize their app to not only run great across all devices — but be highly optimized for Snapdragon in particular.

According to Qualcomm these games and applications don’t have to be exclusive to Snapdragon-powered devices like other similar options in the world of Android (Tegra Zone) but instead will work with all devices — just be even better on a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC.

GameCommand is available on the Android Market today so feel free and give it a try. With an alternate “My Games” list to see all your applications, a “featured” tag with top picks or Snapdragon specific features games, and then a “news” feed to bring you the latest and greatest gaming and mobile news.

We have a few new and exciting things coming from Qualcomm later so be sure to stay tuned. More details on the new Snapdragon GameCommand can be found at Qualcomm.com/snapdragon/gaming.

Got a Snapdragon processor and a penchant for mobile gaming? Then you’ll want to check the Android Market on January 10th, just as the Consumer Electronics Show gets in to full swing at Las Vegas. The Qualcomm-backed GamesCommand store will feature games specifically designed and enhanced for the company’s Snapdragon family of SoC’s. Over 100 games will be launched on the service initially.

The Snapdragon processor has been an Android staple ever since the original Nexus One, and HTC has used it in major releases like the HTC EVO, DROID Incredible and Thunderbolt. Nvidia’s Tegra and Texas Instruments’ OMAP series of ARM-based systems have become more popular as of lat,e even on HTC phones and tablets, so Qualcomm is looking to drum up some more interest in its own products. To that end, the GamesCommand store is a lot like Nvidia’s Tegra Zone.

GamesCommand will feature many of the same games you can buy in the regular Android Market, but also several exclusive enhanced titles, including Fight Game Heroes, Bunny Maze 3D and Desert Winds. Fight Game Heroes might be of particular interest to fans of mixed martial arts, as it pits real fighters like UFC combatant Alistair “The Reem” Overeem. The initial GamesCommand release will be available in North America initially, with a worldwide release later. Qualcomm will be on hand at CES to show off its soft wares.

Quick: what’s the system-on-a -chip that’s on the top of everyone’s mind right now? If you answered the Nvidia Tegra 3, Qualcomm Vice President Rob Chandhok has got a bone to pick with you. Speaking at a pre-CES press conference, the VP of Software Strategy called Nvidia’s processor a “single use product”, comparing it poorly to Qualcomm’s own Snapdragon line of processors. Chandhok went on to say that Snapdragon will be featured in hundreds of devices.

The executive’s point isn’t necessarily wrong – Tegra has been limited to high-end devices so far, a trend that continues with the quad-core Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Forthcoming handsets from HTC are also top-of-the-line contenders. Qualcomm is no stranger to the high end, but they also provide components for smaller and cheaper devices that help fill out product lines for just about every device maker. As awesome as the Tegra 3 is, you won’t be seeing it in a $50 Android phone any time soon.

Tegra 3 isn’t concerning us. There are lots of smart people in the world but what we’re going to focus on is product roadmaps that help our manufacturing partners not just single use products … I could go away and make something brilliant with Tegra 3, but you’re going to see hundreds of [Snapdragon] S4 devices in the marketplace.

Of course, Nvidia’s corporate image is built around performance. When’s the last time you saw an Nvidia ad for an efficient, low-cost graphics card? They make a range of products, but their reputation lies in the high end, and that’s what Nvidia is focusing on in the mobile space – and doing pretty well. Qualcomm isn’t in any sort of danger in the safer low end of the market, but the Snapdragon line is definitely looking a little long in the tooth when it comes to raw power. Qualcomm isn’t the only one preparing answers to the Tegra 3: Samsung’s Exonys line is expected to expand early next year with many powerful new options.

Qualcomm and their Snapdragon processors are in more Android devices than we can count and they aren’t wasting anytime now that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is out in the wild. We’ve seen development devices from them in the past like the 1.5 GHz MDP phone (Mobile Development Platform) and now they are teasing their new Snapdragon MSM8960 that will be known as the Snapdragon S4 on an Ice Cream Sandwich powered tablet.

This developer platform device is rocking four cameras, a fingerprint scanner and all sorts of crazy ideas all packed into one was first shown off running Gingerbread but now Qualcomm has shared a few photos of this awesome device running the absolute latest — Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. With more than a few cameras on the front and a huge 13 megapixel camera on the rear Qualcomm looks to be testing anything and everything.

Almost every HTC device runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and with fast improvements to the platform from Qualcomm you can expect HTC to be working just as hard to bring updates across all of their capable devices. The details are pretty thin here but this Qualcomm S4 chipset should be here inside of 2012 and we’ll probably see it on display at CES come this January. Hopefully they’ll release a video shortly but in the meantime enjoy a few photos thanks to Qualcomm.

Qualcomm has yet to announce and plans or products for its mirasol display e-readers other than the Kyobo eReader that was just launched this week in South Korea. We haven’t been able to enjoy this new screen technology yet for ourselves but now that the reader is available a few videos have appeared on YouTube for us to enjoy.

With a 1.0 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with some UI changes and a large set of ebooks and magazines available the Kyobo eReader is quite nice. The important thing here is the 5.7″ mirasol display pushing you all the content. More details on the new display technology is available in the announcement post, and below is a video demo showing off how it really looks.

The Qualcomm mirasol display uses a front-lit LED system rather than conventional backlit displays and houses tons of tiny mirrors to project the brightness back. Allowing for not only an amazing viewing experience in bright situations like outdoors, but also having exceptional colors from the natural lighting. The more sunlight the better the display gets — no longer will users have to run from the sun or seek shade. While this is very new technology and the first device of its kind to have such a display we expect more options and improved models will be shown by Qualcomm at CES 2012. Here is the video for those interested.

Kyobo Book Centre has unveiled the world’s first eReader based on the new mirasol display technology by Qualcomm. This color e-paper display technology will allow for an enhanced reading experience as well as offer bright colors for pictures and video and exceptional battery life. The Kyobo eReader with mirasol is on sale starting today in South Korea and will initially be targeted at education customers.

We’ve mentioned the mirasol display before, Qualcomm’s new technology that aims to change the display markets while offering a technology that promises exceptional color, video-capable e-paper eReaders with amazing battery life. For more information head to mirasoldisplays.com or watch their innovation video here. Essentially using mirrors to reflect light back and control the color at the same time it offers an extremely efficient technology that will work great indoors, and look even better in direct sunlight. Basically a front lit technology rather than conventional backlight displays that are power hungry and become washed out with brightness from the sun or other sources while being used.

The Kyobo eReader will be using the newest mirasol 5.7″ panel with a 1024 x 768 resolution, a 1.0 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and running atop Android 2.3 Gingerbread with what we are hearing will be a locked down and custom UI — although I’m sure the Android hacking world will get on that right away.

Kyobo, Korea’s largest bookseller — will offer 90,000 ebooks for the mirasol eReader, as well as video education content and many other educational options, integration with social networking services and English text-to-speech support. With magazines for the down-time between study classes and possibly 3 weeks of battery life this will be one interesting eReader. The Kyobo eReader is available today starting at $310 USD in South Korea but we have no details on when or if it will see any other markets. Most likely we’ll be seeing more from Qualcomm and their mirasol technology at CES 2012.

As Android’s gaming prowess (or at lest the hardware it requires) becomes more and more evident, Qualcomm has decided they want to highlight the potential of their Snapdragon series of mobile processors. To that end, they’ve announced Snapdragon GamesCommand, a showcase app filled with “console-quality” and casual games exclusively for Snapdragon devices. Like Nvidia’s Tegra Zone, at least some of the games in GamesCommand will not appear anywhere else – those with other hardware are out of luck.

The company is also revamping their Snapdragon GamePack, adding three games to the mix: The Ball, Fight Game Heroes and GALAGA Special edition, all expected by early 2012. These high-profile titles join more than 100 games already available in the GamePack, and will be the first of a new crop designed to shop off the graphical prowess of the latest generation of Snapdragon processors. Qualcomm did not give exact dates on availability of the expanded GamePack or GamesCommand.

The latest hardware-contingent game store is an interesting divergence from the idea that the Android Market is the best place to showcase Android software. The hardware split might remind you of ATI/AMD and Nvidia duking it out over desktop graphics cards, but in truth, it’s a lot more like the console gaming market. In order to get access to all the latest high-end games, Android users may have to purchase multiple high-end devices, or more likely, simply go without. The precedent is a disturbing one – I’d much rather have developers create games that can run across different types of hardware. It looks like your next tablet purchase might be a tricky one, since you’ll have to consider not just how fast it will run software, but which software it will run.

Qualcomm-Atheros is making a cloud push in a big way with their new Skifta service and app. Skifta is a system for DLNA-certified devices that allows streaming media by way of your phone from either your phone or your home computer, giving you options that previously required separate apps. Built-in free content from the likes of Picasa, Revision 3 and TED Talks rounds out the package.

Basically, Skifta (man, it’s hard to find good non-copyrighted names these days) aims to be a one-stop-shop for all of your media, streaming easily to connected televisions, computers and speaker systems. Video, audio and photos are currently supported. Skifta works on DLNA and UPnP-compatible devices, including Windows 7 computers and the PlayStation 3. The promotional video lays it all out:

Skifta’s a free download from the Android Market, and no, you don’t need a Qualcomm processor inside your phone or tablet to use it. The software is in its 1.0 release, so there may very well be some compatibility or stability issues. But hey, it’s free – what have you got to lose? This may be a good indication of similar systems from OEMs, like Motorola’s upcoming MotoCast.

Yes you read the title right, that says 100% bug powered smartphone and that is exactly what we have. Today Qualcomm has presented us with the “Bug Circus Generator” where they’ve neatly gathered a few speedy Praying Mantis and tossed them on unicycles and a Tarantula on a treadmill and rigged them to generate tiny amounts of electricity. What do you get? A 100% bug powered smartphone thanks to the extremely efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.

Qualcomm recently unveiled details about their upcoming S4 mobile processors and how extremely powerful, yet efficient they will be compared to current generation mobile processors and SoC’s. The new Qualcomm S4 is built using a much refined and smaller 28 nm processing fabrication that allows for smaller more efficient chips, that also use less power and output less heat. All of this combines into an extremely great performing mobile chip and we can expect to see Qualcomm S4 chips in our smartphones soon.

This video we have for you today is just so awesome I don’t even know where to begin. Unicycles being ran by Praying Mantis and beetles running on ping pong balls all wired to produce electricity. This is actually very clever and extremely amusing if you ask me. I’ve seen a flea or ant circus but this takes things to a whole new level. Each “generator” is fixed to a capacitor that is then wired to what appears to be an HTC Sensation that is being fueled by the circus. Without further ado — I present you with the Qualcomm Bug Circus Generator:

I must say that ending is pretty epic — nailed that landing and I’d give her a solid 9.8 score for great form. Surely that canon blast was CGI effects though, no one risks the wrath of the ASPCA these days, even for bugs. Right? For all the details and information on Qualcomm, Snapdragon, or their new S4 mobile processors head over to facebook.com/snapdragon to see and hear more. I must say, the unicycle and praying pantis was by far my favorite of the bunch, that and the death defying shot at the end — Well played Qualcomm.

What does everyone think about this, a neat video or do bugs creep you out?

We saw the ZTE Smart tablets back at IFA 2011 but no details confirmed where it would launch. Now the 7″ Honeycomb tablet from ZTE has cleared the FCC making us hopeful it will see a U.S launch soon. It’s about time we get a few more 7″ tablets in for some competition although I have a feeling we’ll have plenty to choose from very soon.

Looking through the FCC filing we see a rear facing camera, Google stamped on the back, as well as support for both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity. We are looking at a soft coated rubber texture type backside for easy grip, as well as Android 3.2 Honeycomb but the rest of the details remain pretty tight lipped. We did see an ZTE Tab with 4G LTE back in March, so this new tablet could have the same fate although we only se 3G stamped on the image above.

Along with the Vodafone versions we can expect Android 3.2 Honeycomb and a dual-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM, and coming in both 16 and 32GB flavors. The rest of the details regarding the ZTE Smart Tab are a bit scant but once we dig up further details we’ll be sure to update you all. Pricing and availability is still unknown at this point.

We have seen the Huawei Glory before during a full hands-on back in June and it was being dubbed a inexpensive Android 2.3 Gingerbread smartphone. Appearing as one of the better constructed devices from Hauwei as of late many were interested to hear more. Today the phone is now up for pre-order and we have more details for you after the break.

It was last spotted being called the Honor at the end of August along with some specs to help us get an understanding for the device. Huawei has been known thus far as selling some of the lower to entry level Android smartphones but this and the recently spotted Vision shows they are starting to build some great phones.

The Huaewi Honor is a 4.0″ smartphone with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a 1.4 GHz single-core Qualcomm processor, 1GB RAM, 5 MP camera on the rear with LED flash, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and the usual internal goods. It also comes with a massive 1930 mAh battery to help last more than all day. When we first learned of this device it was being mentioned as their first well rounded Gingerbread phone and it would be an inexpensive offering coming in around $300 without signing a contract. The pre-order page spotted today shows a much higher price so we are hoping that will drop once this phone hits the streets.

This seems like a great mid-range phone especially for Huawei but I’ll be hoping for a lower price while we wait for more details.

It’s another round-up of this week’s tech knowledge in this mid-September issue of Android Community Weekly! The Samsung Galaxy S II has finally made it’s way to the states through the Now network, and the sign-up page is already live over at AT&T! T-Mobile has specs confirmed for its own device but sporting a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor opposed to the 1.2GHz Samsung Exynos. If you are looking to see an in-depth benchmark comparison of the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch and international Galaxy S II, then head over here for the showdown. Finally, you will be pleased to hear Samsung has already released the Epic 4G Touch kernel source to the public! Let the modifications begin.

Sunday, Orb Live came to the Android Market in attempt to help Hulu-fans stream their favorite episodes straight to their Android device without paying the Hulu-Plus subscription fee. For this to work of course, users will need a consistent internet connection at home for Orb Live to access it via mobile. Later Sunday, we got wind that the Intel Atom E series process may support Android Gingerbread in 2012. As most devices either run a Qualcomm or Samsung chipset, Intel’s entrance into the mix will be very positive indeed. The Intel Atom has already proved to run Bluestacks, an Android emulator, on the ViewSonic ViewPad 10pro very fluidly. We were given some hands-on time with this Windows 7 slate Thursday.

GameStop has been testing an Android gaming tablet aimed at a pre-2012 launch – and of course, this tablet will most likely be an exceptional gaming device. GameStop is said to be working with developers to release wireless gaming controllers compatible with the device, to offer more comfortable gameplay. Speaking of wireless controllers, Logitech has released the Wireless Gamepad F710 for many of the tablets out there. Chris Burns officially reviewed the controller on the Toshiba THRIVE Tuesday. After putting the full sized HDMI-out locally included in the THRIVE to good use, playing video games on the big screen couldn’t be easier.

The Motorola DROID Bionic has already been spotted booting CyanogenMod 7! Though this release is no where near alpha, who would have expected CyanogenMod 7 only days after the device hit the market? CyanogenMod 7 Alpha has however made it’s way onto the HTC Sensation and EVO 3D; and from user’s reviews it’s running silky smooth. Though the HTC Sensation was just released, HTC has already deemed its successor the Sensation XE official. It will pack a 1.5GHz cpu, more battery life, and Beats Audio (Beats headphones included).

Finally, don’t forget to head over to Motorola’s Facebook page for a chance to win either a DROID Bionic, signed football, or 2 tickets to see the New England Patriots host the New York Giants!

Everyone had to know that NVIDIA wasn’t the only one preparing quad-core processors for the mobile markets. We have seen a few reports from Qualcomm in the past and even reported on the next-gen quad-cores from Qualcomm back in August. With most chipset makers Qualcomm included behind NVIDIA with the dual-cores we’ve been wondering how the next step would look.

S4 class shown above will be their highest offering for mobile, built on a smaller more efficient 28nm processor fabrication they should consume less power while being extremely powerful. The single/dual/quad stands for number of cores in the processor and while we aren’t expecting 2.5 Ghz quad-cores we can expect a few single-core chips to boast those impressive speeds.

Obviously they have many more features but the key ingredients are quad-core, 2.5 Ghz, 3D, 1080p, LTE and more. Previous rumors had mentioned we wouldn’t be seeing quad-cores from Qualcomm til late 2012 but according to new details they could be shown off early 2012 in February at Mobile World Congress. Manufacturers should start receiving these new chips at the end of the year and some impressive devices will surely follow.

Well folks, this has now been confirmed rather than just a rumor. If sources are correct the Samsung Galaxy S II headed to T-Mobile (aka Hercules) will feature the fastest CPU of all the U.S. Galaxy S II phones and will clock in at 1.5 GHz thanks to Qualcomm. We mentioned this last week but had no confirmation as to whether it would feature the same 1.2 GHz speed as the rest, or be faster.

Thanks to the support guys from Samsung on Twitter at @GalaxySsupport the speed has been confirmed to be 1.5 Ghz and will in fact be the Qualcomm APQ8060 processor and not the Samsung Exynos chip. This is the same dual-core processor used in the HP Touchpad and is the latest generation dual-core from Qualcomm.

This also lines up with the original leak regarding the Hercules way back in May. Obviously we can’t say this has been completely confirmed because often times a PR member controlling a Twitter account at a huge company like this will make a mistake that is later corrected. Similar news was released last week stating the processors were different but no speed or product version was listed. Hopefully this ends up being true and T-Mobile users can be happy to know they’ll have the fastest stock Samsung Galaxy S II around soon.

While all variants of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S II are running on a 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor made in house by Samsung known as the Exynos SOC. New details have now confirmed what was previously just a rumor that the T-Mobile version will in fact be running with a different processor from the rest of the pack.

The reason is still unknown but along with previous leaks of the Samsung Hercules it’s looking more likely that it will be powered by a 1.2 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor instead. This goes along with all recent reports as well as the initial leak of the Samsung Hercules way back in May. The Hercules is the codename for the T-Mobile Galaxy S II in case you didn’t know and now things are finally coming together.

The Galaxy S II for T-Mobile was just recently officially announced and we were there live to get some hands-on time with the device. Original details on launch date suggest the Samsung Exynos chip but newer reports are claiming what we’ve mentioned above so for now this is just “confirmed” speculation. We have heard reports regarding the processor being Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon APQ8060 from the HP TouchPad and not what is in current phones like the Sensation 4G and EVO 3D so stay tuned as we dig for more details regarding this upcoming superphone.

In what I can only describe as one of the most amazing looking phones of 2011 (I mean 2007) we have the amazingly awesome Smart Bar Android phone from eAccess. This is a new phone that will be called the Smart Bar that should hit the streets of Japan starting September 22nd. Who wants one? I know I do.

This phone instantly reminds me of my old favorite Sony Ericsson K750i that I used forever. The Smart Bar combined that awesome candy-bar design with a new and improved user interface called… Android! What we have is Android 2.3 Gingerbread running on a modern 3.0″ WVGA display with a pixel density of 311ppi. That is about the best spec for the device though because the rest is a bit lacking. We do have an 800 Mhz Qualcomm processor, 512MB of ram and even a powerful 5.0 MP camera on the rear.

Not only do we have the usual four capacitive Android buttons on screen, but we also get not only a D-Pad, but a full numeric pad also. I think I even see a dedicated email button on there somewhere. Now all I need is a antenna and this would be the most epic phone ever. I’ve yet to decide if this is just funky, or plain out awesome but I’m digging the retro look that is for sure. Who’s with me?

New pictures have just leaked of the much rumored HTC Ruby. This will be the newest beast on T-Mobile’s lineup and according to recent leaks they will be calling it the HTC Amaze 4G. While this isn’t the first time we’ve spotted this phone we do see the entire package this time around.

As most leaks like this usually are, we are getting a few good pictures but the rest are what we all love to call “Mr Blurrycam” but they show enough for us to get excited that is for sure. The last time we heard any specs on this device was back in August and these latest leaks seem to confirm what we already knew.

This package from T-Mobile will feature a 4.3″ qHD 960×540 display (no large 4.7″ here) Android 2.3 Gingerbread as well as HTC Sense UI 3.5 although it appears to be running a pretty stock build of Android in the images with only minor Sense changes. We have confirmation of the 1.5 Ghz dual-core CPU (faster than any other phone HTC has released thus far) as well as 1GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage and that 8MP camera on the rear with dual LED flash.

We are still looking for more details but things appear pretty clear at the moment. It will also feature a front facing camera like most phones as of late. It looks a bit like a HTC Sensation and the myTouch 4G mixed into one. What do you guys think?

Alongside today’s reveal of the Grid 10, a tablet device from Fusion Garage running a “new” OS called Grid, the folks at what’s been called TabCo for the past few months have revealed the Grid 4, a smartphone device running the same OS. This new OS was built on the basic Android kernel and is capable of running Android apps AND is able to sync up perfectly, or so they say, with the tablet that’ll be released on the 15th of September. This smartphone device will have a 4-inch WVGA display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 processor paired with 512MB of RAM.

On the back of this device is a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, 720p HD video recording, and a front-facing 0.3-megapixel camera. This handset will be 122.4 x 63.9 x 9.6 mm, weigh 137g, and will have 16GB of onboard storage, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and triband HSPA. Also inside is GPS/A-GPS, an accelerometer, ambient light sensor and a digital compass, along with a microUSB port and a microSD. An optional USB Host adapter will be available at launch as well.

This device will be sold as a completely unlocked device for $399 unlocked and SIM-free as well as for a hopefully cheaper price on what we must assume is AT&T as the Grid 10 has already attempted to clear the FCC with AT&T 3G connectivity. This device will ship in Q4 of 2011.

What do you think? A smartphone for the next generation, or dead on arrival?
