Android activations grow to 700,000 a day
According to Andy Rubin, Android smartphones are now being activated 700,000 times in a single day. In the big scheme of things, that shows amazing growth. The OS is quite popular, but growing from 550,000 daily activations in July to 700K is incredible! It was estimated that we may be at 1 million activations a day by October 20th, but it undoubtedly digressed from the projected path.

When Google released Buzz back in February, Android users with 2.0 or higher were the only group to fully enjoy it from their mobile device. Today Google has updated Buzz work on any browser. This is likely an attempt by Google raise the popularity of Buzz.

This is a great accomplishment for Android. The market is growing faster than most of us anticipated. This was revealed during this afternoon's Q1 earnings press conference, Jeff Huber who is  Google's senior VP of engineering. Also, Google views the Nexus One as a “profitable business” even though most analyst feel it didn’t sell enough units overall.

Alex eReader Orders Begin Today, Coming To Borders Stores Soon
After many delays, Spring Designs are finally ready to release the Alex eReader. This device gained popularity at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show, but issues with e-commerce website delayed its release. You can't have an eReader without eBooks. Spring Designs has two content partners for the Alex in Google Books and Borders. Orders placed today will take up to four weeks to be delivered. Its ability to offer content in Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Korean and Hebrew is contributing to this delay.
