Google Play for Education program now live

At Google I/O, the new Google Play for Education initiative was announced. At the time, details were sparse, but it was clear that Google was keen on getting tablets into the classroom, just as they were doing with Chromebooks. The program is now live, allowing Developers to mark their app for inclusion, and soon hitting classrooms everywhere.

CyanogenMod Installer app arrives in the Google Play Store

Cyanogen previously announced that an installer app was going to be coming available in the Play Store. The initial announcement came back in mid-September and at the time word was the installer was going to arrive sometime in the coming weeks. We later saw the folks at Cyanogen go looking for beta testers and it seems the testing phase has wrapped. As of today, the CyanogenMod Installer app is available from the Play Store.

Dayframe: Android photo frame hands-on

Dayframe is an app that will turn your Android handset into a photo frame. This one comes by way of Cloud.tv, the same team responsible for HD Widgets and should not be confused with Daydream, the Jelly Bean feature. The Dayframe app is set to arrive in the Play Store on November 12th, however we took advantage of the beta program to get an early look.

Google Opinion Rewards app offers Play Store credit for quick survey answers

Google has rolled out Opinion Rewards, an app that gives you Google Play Store credits just for being opinionated. Associated with your Google account and Wallet, Opinion Rewards was created by Google Consumer Surveys, a very simple survey creation service. The app will alert you when you’re eligible to answer surveys via a notification in your notification bar, which Google says will occur “about once a week”.
