Pioneer’s AVH-4100NEX Android Auto unit finally starts shipping

During CES 2015 earlier this year, we told you about some fantastic aftermarket car radio head units that featured the new Android Auto, including Panasonic’s NEX series. The problem was that nice as these units were, it being a relatively new technology meant that the pricing bordered on “crayzeee”. The new AVH-4100NEX is Pioneer’s cheapest Android Auto radio head, and it retails for a whopping USD$700.

Pioneer AV receivers get support for HTC Connect

If you happen to own both a Pioneer AV receiver from 2012 and a HTC smartphone, then starting today there's a chance you can use both of them together. Today Pioneer announced a firmware update for "all Pioneer 2012 networked audio video receiver models," that adds support for HTC Connect. This means that you can now use your HTC smartphone to stream music to your receiver.

DreamBook Z97 brings ICS, Tegra 3 and 128GB storage to Australia

Pioneer Computers (not to be confused with Pioneer Electronics of car stereo fame) has had its hat in the Android ring for some time now, though you might not now it. Their latest entrie is a doozie: the DreamBook Z97, yet another high-end tablet with Nvidia's quad-core Tegra 3 processor and a full gigabyte of RAM powering it. Combine that with Ice Cream Sandwich, and you've got yourself a contender - at least if you live in Australia.
