1 Cross MID “hybrid” Concept

This will be the first MID in a series of products from 1 Cross. It's Android based and is a mix between an e-reader and a tablet. 1 Cross will name this hybrid the ShuBook which is Chinese for book. When closed it looks like a traditional book, open it up and you will reveal dual screens. One e-reader and a smaller screen with a built in qwerty keyboard.

Google rewards Android devs with free phones

Google sent out email’s earlier today to a select group of Android developers informing them that they are eligible to receive either a Verizon Droid or a Nexus One, as part of its ‘Device Seeding Program’. Developer’s of applications that has more than 5,000 downloads and a rating of 3.5 stars or higher qualify for one of these two Android devices.

Car Locator Android App Makes $13,000 a Month

Developer Edward Kim is undoubtedly pleased with his $13,000/month from the Car Locator app in the Android Market. He states that he made this app as a side project while vacationing with family. Not bad for a side project, this app finished third in Google's Android Developer Challenge 2.

Guardian Project has secure Android smartphones in the works

Cryptographically secure phones has been around for quite sometime now but the use of such devices are highly underutilized due to their high cost and low user support. Android is now being used by Guardian Project in an effort to bring these types of devices to the masses. Android-compatible handset will be updated with new firmware release that would add an anonymous browser, encrypted email, secure voice calls and secure data sync, along with various other security related things.

iHome-Home Replacement App

The open nature of Android has allowed this OS to be customized in ways most OS's are not allowed. One of the most customized aspects of Android is the home screen. There are a variety of options for this type of mod, each offering their own flavor and options. Sometimes a few custom widgets are included. iHome looks to take aim at the top of the home replacement heap with their latest offering.

Fully working Quake 2 and 3 ported to Droid

AndroidandMe, conducted Android bounty competition which they set some parameters for developers to go away and make some applications for Android. In return they would offer a developer $90 if they fulfilled the parameters and were the first to do so. The second set of parameters included porting Quake II to Android.

Verizon and the Saygus VPhone with Skype?

It seem Verizon wants to hit the ground running after the recent announcement of a partnership with Skype. There has been reports that the two are in the process of making a VOIP capable phone. This leads us to the Saygus VPhone. This phone is capable is video chat as well as VOIP.
