LG Spectrum update detailed by Verizon Wireless

Verizon updated the LG Spectrum to Ice Cream Sandwich back in October and it looks like details for another software update have recently been posted. And while we would be happy to report this update was brining Jelly Bean, that is not the case. Of course, we are not all that certain any Spectrum users are expecting that anyway. Needless to say, this update still seem worthwhile and one that you will likely want to grab.

Samsung Galaxy S III getting OTA update on Verizon and T-Mobile today

If you're a Samsung Galaxy S III owner and either a T-Mobile or Verizon customer, you should be getting an OTA today. Unfortunately, it isn't the update to Jelly Bean everyone has been waiting for, but luckily Samsung said earlier today that the Galaxy S III should be getting good ol' Android 4.1, so at least there's that. In any case, T-Mobile has announced that a particularly tiny update is going out over the air to Galaxy S III owners starting today, and it only makes some very minor changes.

Guidelines for Device Updates Announced by Google for Android at Google I/O

Another huge move by Google that made the audience completely lose it was the announcement that they will soon be working with carriers around the USA and the UK to create guidelines for device updates. So why does that matter? Why should you care? This means that you'll now be able to KNOW what if your device will be getting updates in the future, instead of having to guess when the newest Android version will be coming to you, or even if it will before the end of the device's lifespan. In other words, this is basically the best news ever!

HTC Desire to get Gingerbread sooner rather than later

Back in February, we reported that HTC was bringing Gingerbread to their HTC Desire line in the second quarter. Well it looks like they're ahead of schedule, at least in Europe, because a representative from ThreeUK has tweeted that they've begun testing Gingerbread today for the HTC Desire and should have it would at the end of the month or early next. That could make a sunny Spring for Brits who were looking to wait until at least summer for their gingy goodness. The update also looks to be coming to Desire owners in Sweden around the same time.
