HTC CEO to step down if HTC One fails

HTC has a lot riding on its new flagship smartphone, the HTC One. The company believes that this new smartphone will be THE smartphone to get HTC out of its financial rut. HTC's CEO, Peter Chou, has also stated that if the HTC One is not successful, he will step down as CEO. Chou spoke with HTC's senior executives late last year about his decision, and is going all in with the HTC One.

It seems pretty clear that HTC is going to be announcing the M7 shortly, however just in case anyone still had any remaining doubt as to whether the handset is real -- this video should remove that doubt completely. You see, HTC CEO Peter Chou recently took to the stage during a company event and not only chanted M7, but also took out the phone to test the camera.That said, we should clarify that this was a private HTC event, however in the world we live in today, that video has since been found on the web.

Things were not all that great for HTC in 2012. In fact, according to a recent Wall Street Journal report, HTC had one of their worst years in 2012. It was said that the third quarter earning have them sitting at the lowest in about six years. Or to put that another way, the share price is down about 80 percent as compared to the record high that HTC saw in 2010. That being said though, it looks like HTC has been making some plans for a comeback.

HTC will be making a “Major Announcement” Tomorrow Morning

HTC just sent over a little tip warning us that they have a major announcement they plan to reveal early tomorrow morning, That is August 11th. CEO Peter Chou will be conducting a teleconference in Los Angeles, and that's about all we know. This comes as a surprise because we haven't heard anything as of late or seen anything large leaked that may be announced tomorrow but we have a few ideas running around up stairs.
